“The best place in Livigno”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

We keep coming back to this small, family-owned Garni for forth year. I have to say that the owners Bormolini Family is very nice and sweet and they make you feel welcome the moment you check-in. It has comfortable rooms with TV, wifi and balcony, some rooms facing Mottolino Slopes. The best breakfast in town you can get, they make sure you have fresh fruits, great breads, freshly squeezed juices, warm sausage, the best ham.... Nothing ever is a problem, the staff is always there and ready to help you. We stayed there with 2 little boys ever since they were 3 years old and they love coming back to. Really you won't found a better, warmer hotel in Livigno. We do recommend it and look forward to our next trip.

Room Tip: Room No. 2 - 1/3 bed room great views to Mottolino

This hotel is amazing. Very nice and clean rooms, excellent service and delicious breakfasts. The manager is extremely helpful and friendly. The mini spa is really a great place to recover after all day skiing. If I ever go to Livigno again, I will for sure stay there!

We have stayed in Garni Roberta five times and we love this friendly family run hotel. Marco Bormolino is always present, taking care of his guest from breakfast to bedtime, and with a nice hospitality that makes you feel welcome. The breakfast buffe is excellent and in the evening you have all the good restaurants in Livigno within walking distances. It also a good location for skiing, just cross the street and you can take the lift and then across to the new cabin lift and you are soon on top of the mountain at Costaccia. There is also a small relaxation facility in the hotel with jacuzzi and two kinds of sauna. The only remark is that the furniture in the rooms are a bit old and worn.

Real family business! Warm, careful and up to all expectations!
It's the first hotel we'd return anytime. Anytime.
See you soon, Marco Bormolini and your family.

Stayed at the Garni Roberta for the third time now, Twice Ski-ing, and once for a stopover returning to the UK from Rimini.
This hotel is very close to all the local restaurants and in the middle of the pedestrian area that is developing every year with shops and apres ski venues.
The Hotel has its own Bar, and the owners, Fam. Bormolini, look after you well. Breakfast is everything you would wish for, and a weekly afternoon get-together in te bar is very welcome.
Situated close to the old 'Galli' slopes, beginners won't need to go far. However, Livigno has created a new ski-schule area the other side of the Valandrea (23) lift that looks like it may come into use next year. They are also adding another gondola that end to open up that side of the Costaccio. Livigno had some of the best conditions in the alps when we visited, even though a lot of resorts were struggling. It is also noticeable that the recession has taken a toll on the number of visitors this year again, however, Livigno does keep re-investing, so although the lift price is still top end, you can see that they spend it. They do however still desperately need to do something with that awful chair that goes from the Mottolino to Monte Neve. Too long, Too cold, stops too much, and is like sitting on an angry rhino for 15 minutes...
Last year, our own Prince Harry stopped for coffees with his colleagues at the 'Grolla' so that already has the royal seal of approval. I would recommend it too, it has been re-vamped both inside and out. Ice-cream is order of the day...oh and don't miss the 'Bombardino's'.

Italy is easy to drive to when you get the route right, and beats a flight with all its associated delays and coach transfers anytime.
If you drive you also get the benefit of cheap fuel to do the journey...DYOR (as they say on the bulletin boards).

Return drive to England (Kent):
Depart 07:10 Local time Saturday.
Via: Munt La Schera Tunnel; Vereina Tunnel; Altstatten; Bregenz; Ulm; Stuttgart; Luxembourg (Fuel stop); Namur, Dunquerque; Calais...Eurotunnel
Arrive home (Kent)...22:30 local time (same day)

No doubt another trip will soon be on the cards...
