We were to stay at the Cristallo but due to a problem at that hotel, we were moved to the Valtellina. This was no problem at all. We were introduced to the whole family who run the hotel and they seemed delighted to have us stay there.
The room was very comfortable and had lovely views even though there are not many floors.
The staff were very friendly and almost became friends during our one-week stay.
The breakfast is typical of an Italian hotel - cold buffet and we were able to eat plenty to set us up for the day.
We were half board so ate in the restaurant each evening too. The food was Italian country style cooking. There was always a hot soup or pasta course then a main course and dessert. My husband and I are vegetarian and each evening the hotel did a slightly different menu for us which generally involved an omelette. Sometimes, we had soup and pasta instead and we enjoyed each meal we had.
The wellness centre is a a bit of an afterthought. It is in the basement so there is no natural light but after a hard day in the mountains it is welcome indeed.
The hotel provides mountain bikes for guests to use free of charge but after trying them out we decided to rent from a local place instead as we were not happy with the brakes/gear shifts on the free ones.
Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend as a 3-star comfortable place to stay for skiing or summer hiking/biking.
