“fading quickly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2010

My family stayed here for 6 nights in mid September. There are plenty of positive aspects to this hotel e.g. fabulous outdoor pool with plenty of lounges, roof top bar, free bikes, great buffet breakfast (dinner was dreadful) and exceptional front desk staff. The problem is that despite this still being a relatively new hotel in the area, the rooms (although spacious) and general interiors have not been well maintained. The bathroom taps kept falling off, so too did tiles. The couch and curtains were grubby, but the worst was the terribly stained hallway carpet running from the elevators to the room.
We would not stay here again despite it being one of the better hotels on the Tuscan coast.

UNA Hotel Versilia is an exclusive sea front resort, with 99 rooms, of which 9 are suites and 63 Junior Suites, is the ideal solution for anyone wanting to combine the comfort of a luxury hotel and the privilege of total independence offering 30 elegant apartments with a wide choice in size and type. Exclusive facilities at guests’ disposal are the restaurant accommodating up to 280 people, roof garden bar, indoor and outdoor areas for fitness and sport: 2 tennis courts, a 25 meter open-air swimming pool and solarium.
We have just changed curtains in our rooms, and carpets in the corridors will be soon removed and chanded also.
We do regret for not accomplishing our goal to make your stay as pleasent as you expected, and we intended it to be. We also hope to have the occasion to have you among our guest again and let you enjoy your stay at UNA Hotel Versilia.

We stayed for 6 night in a Junior Suite consisting of a separate bedroom and living room plus a large balcony overlooking the garden. The hotel is bright and airy throughout and the bedroom was very comfortable. In a few areas design outweighed practicality. Breakfasts and evening meals were good, with plenty of variety, but the latter were a bit expensive. Staff were all helpful and friendly. The pool is big but only opens between 10 and 6 so an early or late dip is not an option. The hotel is set back from the coast road in lovely gardens, but it is only a few minutes walk to the beach. We did not have a car so had to rely on public transport. Bus stops are nearby to get to Viareggio (and hence further afield) or Forte del Marmi. There is even a bus direct to Pisa airport (about 1.25 hours) leaving from a bus stop 10 minutes along the road. Bus users are perhaps rare as we were given incorrect advice by the front desk on two occasions.

Our Florentine friends stayed at the UNA the first year it opened in 2008 and we joined them for dinner there on a few evenings and were very impressed with the Hotel as we had always stayed at the Villa Ariston next door in previous years. Sadly the standard of the Ariston had changed so while in Versillia decided to try the UNA. This is our second year at staying at the UNA,last year we only managed to stay 3 nights as the hotel was fully booked..This year we managed to book 8 nights and the standard was brilliant just like the previous year.We again managed to get a junioir suite which was lovely and spacious.Breakfast is fabulous and caters for every taste.Special thanks to Christian & Annassia .Last year when we had dinner in the restaurant the food was superb and again this year the standard had not dropped. If you are not out sightseeing and just want a beach holiday you do have to book the beach especially in August as it is very busy and also at the Una pool you have to be early to reserve a lounger.Local restaurants are very good if you want to eat out.We would definately come back to this hotel and the staff are really lovely nothing is too much trouble.

My partner and I stayed at the UNA for three nights in mid September 2010. It is well located, mid way between Viareggio and Forte De Marmi. It is on the coast road with the beach opposite. It has lovely gardens, a good pool and pleasant areas to sit. We booked via Expedia and suspect that we do not get the best rooms when we do this. Having said that, the room was very nice but overlooked the back of the hotel. We had a junior suite which was very large, clean and well furnished. There was lots of storage space (sometimes scarce) and two flat screen TV's. The bathroom was large and fully equipped - shower in bath (which I prefer) and a bidet. The staff were very nice. Anna supervised breakfast - very good buffet; Annassia supervised lunch - good range of snacks - but the evening meal was a disaster. My partner ordered a veggie main course. What arrived was smaller than a starter and burnt on top. I ordered a veal kebab. It looked nothing like veal or a kebab and was almost inedible. These could have been bad choices but we noticed others did not take their evening meal in the hotel. There are lots of nice restaurants nearby so we did not starve. For those making their first trip to Versilia I would recommend this hotel. We looked at several others and liked none of them. Viareggio is not very attractive, apart from a huge beach. Forte De Marmi is lovely - if expensive. The old city of Lucca is a short drive away and well worth a visit. Versilia would not be everybody's first choice for a coastal holiday but handy when Florence etc has exhausted you.

a superb hotel in a great location. Junior suite exceeded expectations, and booking direct with the hotel ppproved to be the way to getting direct rate.
Staff in the main very helpful, with special mention of Marta and her colleague on the front desk and Marie at the rooftop bar.
Free bikes offer the oppotunity to cycle and discover the area, and amongst the good restuarants La Lampara was good value.
We will definitely come again, but perhaps earlier in the year - a bit quiet in September.
Although a good time to vist Florence, Lucca and Pisa.

We stayed 4 nights at the UNA Hotel and we had a great stay.
The pool area, the american bar on the roof top, the lighting of the hotel at night, the fresh salads ate the pool bar and the decor and atmosphere are very nice.
The hotel has bikes you can borrow and you use the cycle roads along the beach to go everywhere. They upgraded our suite so we had a fantastic view and location.

The only down would be the cofffee for breakfast which taste like instant... A bit disappointing in Italy... and the carpets in the corridors need a good clean. They are white/cream and it shows.

But overall, it is a great hotel and we loved our stay there ! The resort is also really nice.

Lovery hotel in a quite location. The suites are fabulous to a high standard. A boutique type hotel. The pool was great but you had to be there early to get a li-lo. The breakfast was excellent too. All in all a great hotel.
