“Very nice hotel, very pleasant staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

We stood there for 5 nights. The hotel is located close to the (private) beach but they keep a list of partner beach clubs which offer a 10% discount to the hotel clients. Very nice restaurant, espcially the fish dishes. We tested the massages as well ; perfect. The pool is also very nice. Special mention for the fresh fruit juice bar. Staf speaks english, german, and even some french - and of course italian. Loved the bike service, this is a great idea to discover Lido Di Camaiore. Great place to stay overall.

Room Tip: Rooms seem to be rather quiet even those close to the elevators. A/C is not noisy.

“Beware... a dangerous experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Let us start on the one positive note........the staff were pleasant, helpful and experienced.
This is a vacation hotel for families, we were given Room 102 which was the only room they had to offer. It looked out on to a flat roof and a flank wall of an adjacent building. I presume that all the rooms above had the same non-view. This was 300 Euros per night.
The bathroom was dangerous, the plastic bath was shiny, had no mat for the in-bath shower and no handle to pull out of the bath or to grab if you were showering. The glass side panel was fixed (not hinged) and the distance between the panel and the silly blue plastic wash basin was so small that you had to be careful not to knock yourself when leaving the bath which was made difficult by having no support whatsoever.
The door handles were stylish but were flat pointed bars with no return, a terrible hazard at eye level for children and all this in a family hotel.
The in room wi-fi is expensive and not safe as my computer picked up a virus which has not yet been fixed. When I showed my compure to the staff they shrugged and said "It's a virus, it couldn't have happened here" but I can assure you it did.
We cut short our stay and left after 2 nights.
It is obvious that the owners have g

Room Tip: Do not take a room that does not have a full sea or mountain view. All A/C units are noisy.

Dear Guest,

I would like to thank you for having spent some of your time to leave your precious comment on UNA Hotel Versilia on TripAdvisor. Your comments and suggestions are most valuable and helpful to us in order to improve the quality of our service and not only meet but exceed the expectation of our Guests.
I am pleased that you were satisfied with the staff which is continuously trained to provide a personalized, friendly and at the same time professional service.
However I am really sorry to hear about your bad experience with the room and the WiFi connection. The room you had was a classic room with partial garden view. The bathroom complies with all Italian rules as well as the door handles. Honestly, since the opening in 2008, it is the first time we receive a complain about the safety from one of our Guests.
Our Hotel offers ADSL 2 + 12/1 Mbps WiFi Internet access, with at least 1 Mbps guaranteed broadband. We decided to offer a high quality service although it implies an extra charge. Anyway you can find on our website many special offers that include WiFi connection. Furthermore we went into the matter of the virus with our IT Department and, as the reception staff explained, it resulted that is technically impossible to get a virus from our Internet access.
Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience this might have caused during your stay with us. I truly hope you will consider giving us another chance to show the high level of hospitality that we strive for.

“Fantastic Hotel : Near 5 stars for the price of 4”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Nicely designed hotel, spacious (double) family rooms with all comfort available, huge dressing, silent and effective airco. Great breakfast buffet (rather unusual in Italy), freshly made smoothies, bacon and eggs for the amateurs... etc.
Nice pool and surroundings with enough space altough You 'll have to do well to get the prime spots, but never mind : the others our fine too.
The garden is well maintained despite a very dry and hot summer season.
Great roof bar / restaurant which offers all the sunset pictures You need.
One (minor) critic is the restaurant which is good but lacks just a bit of refinement to match the prices charged.
The hotel is also nicely situated to visit Lucca, Cinque terre and more closer : Viareggio and Frte di Marmei. (A car is useful)
Overall : our best hotel (of 8 places visited in Italy) with enough and very friendly and helpful
staffing.

“Design hotel at the sea with top quality service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Our holiday at the UNA Versilia was great. Among others, the hotel offers extraordinarily spacious and stylish family rooms, a 25 m swimming pool in a gracious garden and tennis courts. But what we appreciated most was the excellent service: The hotel personnel is very attentive and dynamic, thank you in particular to Alba for the juices and to Elisabetta for her restaurant recommendations! We will certainly be back soon.

“Top quality family friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

One of the best hotels we have stayed in during holidays. We stayed 10 nights. Rooms are excellent in size and very stylish - we had a junior suite which offered two rooms separated by a hall, semi open kitchen, bathroom. Two flat screen tv's, large balcony with table + 4 seats + 2 lounge seats. Beds were quite tough (as in many Southern European countries) but the positive elements of the room made up for this slight discomfort. What surprised us is that the majority of guests in this season (last days of July, first week of August) were families with children in range of 0-14 years old and the hotel is very child friendly. Many guests from Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, UK in fact a very nice European mix. We stayed in a half board package from TUI which was excellent. Half board means starter and desert buffets (with plenty of options), 2nd course pasta/soupe a-la-carte, main course (4x fish, 4x meat) a-la-carte. So plenty of choice and on Monday a grill night in the roof restaurant and on Thursday a Tusan night at the pool. Sparkling/still water and coffee are free. Wine list is fine and affordable. When booking half board, it is possible to eat at the roof restaurant at a surcharge (in fact you receive discount of EUR 20 pp on your check). Cocktails and oysters with champagne on the roof are definitely recommended! Breakfast is excellent as well with everything you can imagine including fresh juice bar.

Pool is really great with sufficient seats / beds around and in garden. Unfortunately as in many hotels, some people queue up before opening hours to reserve the best spot at the pool or one of the "lounge double beds" to go for breakfast afterwards and not leave their seats/beds for the full day. Very hard for pool attendants to manage this, so I really cannot blame the hotel. It is all about a lack of social skills of some groups of tourists and you can only decide not to follow and we were perfectly happy in our "2nd best seat" the beautiful gardens, only a couple of meters away from the pool.

Beach access. The hotel has arrangements with some of the beach clubs. We visited Pardini (accross the road from the hotel) who offer full day umbrella + two chair + 1 bed for EUR 40 (10 discounted). Extra bed is EUR 5. The club offers beach guard, showers, facilities and quite a lot of space around the umbrella. Pardini is very nice and offers great and affordable lunch options, ice cream and drinks. Public beaches are a walk away but crowded and with no facilities.

Sight seeing: Lucca is closeby (30 minutes) and so is Pisa (40 minutes). Other Tuscan sites (Florence, San Gimignano) are quite a drive but doable. We loved to combine beach days and culture days and did not mind driving a little. Portofino (1h20m drive) is also worth visiting!

Other: internet - indeed quite slow but it was there and it was free for 60 minutes (and you could use the vouchers partially to reactivate them afterwards, even after days, so I really used to update mailbox or download a paper). So for me it was perfectly ok, especially as this is not a business hotel or area anyway. So no temptation to work all day. The bikes are really nice - it is a nice drive to Forte dei Marni and Viareggio with bike lanes next to the beach road.

Overall: I do consider this a 5 star-level accommodation for European standards and was really impressed by the quality offered.

Room Tip: All rooms appeared great but a higher floor / frontside room offers side-seaview which is nice.
