“third year very disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2011

We stayed 9 days and expected the hotel to be as good as the two
previous years. The bathroom in the suite had a broken shower head
and the fan did not work to clear any condensation. In the sitting area
a plug socket was loose,so this could not be used. There was a new chef
(previous chef was excellent}the food was lukewarm and not very appetitizing
hence we eat out.Breakfast also was not very good.
We would like to thank Cristian and new waiters Marco and Matti for being
so helpful and polite.
Last year at the pool if you reserved your sunbed and did not use this
within 2 hours it went to someone else which was a fair way of stopping
people who would not use the bed for most of the day and come back
late in the afternoon. This year there were quite a few beds not being used
but because towels had been placed on them could not go to anyone else.
Be careful and check your bill.Due to the incompetance of the reception
staff we were overcharged 120 euros on a meal we did have and my husband
only noticed this when we got home.
It is such a shame when a hotel starts off brilliantly and then standards start to
slide.
We have always raved about this hotel but unfortunately not anymore

“Fantastic hotel, Christian was wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at this modern hotel in September 2010. It was the best hotel in our entire Italy tour (service, value, space). The breakfast each morning was amazing!!!!!! It was an LA style resort in the US. White, clean, modern. The room was spacious and quiet. We met Christian, a bar manager, our first night and he made the stay! He was so helpful, friendly and happy. He even made me a chocolate and cream cocktail, literally from scratch because I said I enjoyed chocolate. The hotel was down the street from many restaurants and bars. We took a day trip to Pisa and Cinque Terra. Versilia was the perfect location for these day trips. We highly recommend this hotel.

“Beautiful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

The hotel is located at the coast of Lido di Camaiore where there are plenty of little shops and restaurants. In the evening it's rather "busy" with a lot of Italian families having a second residence there and doing a walk or having dinner in the evening, so don't book this hotel if you want to be in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately the complete beach is rent by private companies and you have to pay for laying on the beach (it's €35 for a complete day). There is a very long walkway along the coast (with a pier for about 3km from the hotel) where it's very enjoyable to walk or to bike (you can rent bikes for free) in the evening. If you are there by car you can do some trips to Florence, Pisa, Livorno (we went to Venezia too which was a trip of 3 hours) to see some more of Tuscany. The rooms are nice & clean and very well isolated for sounds from the corridor (we were staying at the first room in the corridor but didn't heard anything). The pool is big enough for the tourists but there are not enough deck chairs at the pool itself, that's why there are some extra deck chairs that the (private) lifeguard installs when you arrive at the pool in the garden around the pool. So if you want a deck chair at the pool you'd better be quick in the morning. There are 2 restaurants, the "normal" restaurant where you can eat at noon and in the evening and the "roof" restaurant that's only open in the evening. There you have a nice view of the sea and you can drink something (in the bar area) or eat something. The cocktails are not cheap (€10 for a Caiperinha / Piña Colada) but you get a plate with appetizers on it (nachos with dip sauce, tomato & mozzarella, olives etc). The restaurant itself is absolutely not cheap, we ate there a (small) local fish and 6 prawns with one bottle of sparkling water and had to pay a bill of €84, the trick is that you don't know how much your meal precisely costs.

“A nice alternative to Viareggio and Forte de Marmi but fading quickly"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

I've stayed at this property twice. The first trip was for two weeks in the height of the summer...two years after the hotel opened. The second was for one night only...fortunately. The interior of the hotel is beginning to show signs of wear which, considering the price, is unacceptable.

There is no doubt that the appeal of this hotel is the beauty of the property. Great design, set off the main road by a long drive with an attractive and well maintained lawn. The first year, we stayed in a mini-apartment with a nice kitchen and comfortable furnishings in the room. It even came equipped with an in-room washer/dryer which is essential for anyone planning on staying more than a few days. The second trip was short and so we didn't need the kitchen, just a room. Both rooms and bathrooms were nice, comfortable and equipped with spacious balconies that allow you to enjoy the beautiful tuscan sunrise and sunsets.

The staff is, well, lets just say that I've experienced more cordial and efficient service at similar priced properties. I don't expect the staff to bend over backwards but I also do not expect front desk staff to be flustered if more than one guest appears. I've been travelling to Italy for over 30 years, lived there for 5, and speak the language fluently but when you receive a look as if your request is disturbing staff or preventing them from engaging in chit-chat among themselves, you begin to wonder whether the people are there to work or simply to collect a paycheck.

If you plan on driving there, as most do, be aware that the beautiful front lawn comes at a price...there is very limited parking.

“Stunning modern hotel with beautiful rooms and swimming pool!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2011

We stayed at this hotel in June with our two young children (3y / 1y) for 11 nights.

From the start we were very positively surprised about the quality of this italian hotel on the Tuscan coast.
We selected a Junior Suite, to have ample room for keeping the kids in a separate room and allowing us to stay up in the evening and having quiet parents time.

The room was beautiful and very spacious. It's in a modern simplistic but functional style, most things in white color. Even the wood flooring was in very nice white oiled wood parquet. The bed was comfortable and the hotel offers different kinds of pillow strengths at your liking. Bathroom was great and we even had a separate fully equipped kitchen, offering everything from oven, stove to fridge and even a dishwasher! Behind a sliding door we even discovered a laundry washing machine, which is great to have if you travel with small kids.

The breakfast buffet, as mentioned previously, is terrific! In Italy you usually can expect only a coffee and croissant and maybe some fruits if you're lucky. But UNA hotel offered a extensive and very delicious buffet, ranging from cold cuts, eggs, salmon, fresh cheese, müesli and cereals, wide selection of bread and jams, fresh prepared fruit or vegetable juices, etc. etc. And the coffee gets brought to your table as you like it (espresso's, latte's, american coffee, etc. I'd recommend to select an italian café lungho, as the american coffee's in Italy are usually made of powder coffee).

The pool is another beautiful spot and offers reclining chairs around the pool or next to it in the grass/garden. The garden offers shade from the peaceful pine tree forest on their lot and a nice area for kids to run around.

If you feel like going to the beach, you can select different "Lido's" where you pay rent for a chair and umbrella, depending on how long you stay. Towels can be brought along from the hotels pool guard.

Dinner and lunch were both good at the hotel, though rather expensive. We often ate lunch at one of the Lido (where you don't need to rent a spot, if you only like to eat something) which was also delicious. For dinner we selected to either eat in, with something from the big shopping center (Esselunga) nearby and prepare it at our terms in our room with a nice bottle of Tuscan wine. :-)
Otherwise we very much liked strolling down the pedestrian zone in Marina di Petrasante (10min. north by car) and having a pizza or other there.
