“Lerici is a gem! Hotel Florida was a great choice....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2011

My daughter and I - plus another couple - were travelling with a group of friends touring Cinque Terre. The others who were more organized had booked a hotel in Monterroso al Mare, but there was no availability - and it was also very expensive. La Spezia didn't seem too desirable as a place to stay, so I found Lerici as an alternative. There is very little info on this town as far as Americans are concerned - and, through Tripadvisor, I feel I stumbled upon a gem - and the Hotel Florida merely enhanced our two day here. I wish we had had a day just to spend in Lerici! (I hope Rick Steves doesn't discover Lerici!)
Hotel Florida is beautifully situated on the beach, and our small, but clean room had a balcony overlooking the waterfront and castle - pretty spectacular! The free wi-fi was glitch-free and an added plus.
Unlike others, I felt the breakfast was great - the pastries were delicious, as was the cappucino.
Since we were meeting friends in Montoresso early, it was a 20+ euro ride to the train station in LaSpezia which added to our expenses. We had the hotel keep calling the same cab driver, who gave us a bit of a break.
I recommend the Hotel Florida, and I highly recommend allowing time to explore Lerici!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony overlooking the beach

We stayed here as part of a wedding group and our inital welcome was superb. The reception staff spoke excellent English and even offered to park our hire car out on the road in the designated parking spaces when one became available to save us worrying about it. The room was fine but with a very small bathroom and limited tv options. The view from our balcony (1st floor) was the best part of the whole experience. I asked for extra hangers and for the tv to be mended and both were done quickly. The free wifi worked very well in the room. Our only complaint would be about the limited breakfast which had only cold pastries/bread, tinned fruit cocktail, cheap cereals and ham and cheese. I'm sure they could make this so much better with little extra expense especially as there were waitresses serving the (awful) coffee and tea and the other nearby hotels others of our party were staying in, offered better. I was glad to be moving on after 5 nights which was a shame as Lerici is a beautiful place. I would also suggest shopping around for prices as other similar hotels seemed to be cheaper.

Room Tip: A balcony room is a must!

This hotel is centrally located in the heart of tiny Lericci. The room we had, a double, was facing the sea. We had a wonderful view. Thee breakfast was a bit sub-standard only because they used all packaged breakfast items. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean.

The views of the beach were breathtaking, The Hotel foyer was very impressive but the room was average. The bathroom had a urine smell around the toilet bowl area so cleanliness was poor in the very small bathroom.
Breakfast was just average. WiFi was also non existent on our floor. Think it was the 4th. Had to go down to the foyer to connect.
Concerned by how long our passports were left ON THE counter before they actioned their usual check-in procedure. At least 2 hours. In the end I demanded they be returned as anyone could have taken them . Just too relaxed!!!

We stayed here for two nights. The deck in our room was outstanding. Room 330, a triple had a 400 sq. ft balcony. Listening to waves at night was great. The staff parked our car, looked after our day trips, and couldn't have been nicer.

I feel for the bride, as she stated in a prior review, but our experience was the exact opposite of what she experienced.

Lerici is as pretty as the pictures you see. Access to Cinque Terre is great, but the five towns in our opinion are now more of a tourist trap, high prices, trinkets, much like many of the names we hear of all the time. We couldn't wait to get back to Lerici.

Enjoyed watching kayak basketball, that's right.

The sunsets are spectacular.

We chose this hotel for a couple of reasons. We wanted to have access to Cinque Terre, a place with great views, and parking. The location on the "Bay of Poets" is great. The views from our center front balcony were beautiful across the bay to Portovenere and to the town of Lerici. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible when we were there in May and so the ferries to CT were not running. We did drive though, after first stopping in Portovenere which is more beautiful than CT in my opinion. The room was fine, a little spartan, small, clean bathroom, fairly good wifi reception in our room and a good breakfast buffet. The staff was okay, nothing to compliment or complain about. We found easy parking on the street, but it was early May and not yet high tourist season. There is a public lot next to the hotel where you can also park. which is one of the reasons we chose this hotel.
We had good dinners on two nights at "En Tragia" in Lerici. Great pizza one night, and then the fish dinners looked so good, we went back again. That meal was also excellent..

Very good location by the beach. There are no restaurants and bars nearby so it is quiet at night. My single room was towards the back of the house but still had a balcony with chairs and a nice view of the beach and bay. Good traditional Italian buffet breakfast. Free Internet PC in lobby and free parking which I believe was on a first come basis. Price for a single room B&B was EUR 100 which is good value.
