We were based in Portovenere and when doing research for our trip, someone suggested visiting Lerici. We took the bus from Portovenere to Lerici, via la Spezia. It was a bit tricky trying to find out where the bus stop was, but we eventually muddled through.
We were there in early May. At that time, it was very quiet with few tourists. We were told summer can be very busy with Italian tourists, particularly from Milan. As we strolled through town, we walked by Ristorante Bonta Nascoste and noticed a New York Times article reviewing it. We decided to make a reservation for lunch.
It was a beautiful day so we sat outside at one of the two tables. The food was delicious. We had a salad, squid ink pasta, a carafe of fizzy local wine (similar to Prosecco) and water for a very reasonable €46. We had no idea it was the top ranked restaurant in Lerici. We would recommend this restaurant and if we have the good fortune to return to Lerici, we would certainly dine here again.
