“Despite previous reviews....better than expected hotel stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hotel del Lido and couldn't have been more pleased. The hotel was practically deserted as the season is not yet in full swing there and that was an added plus for us since it felt as if we had the entire hotel to ourselves. Our stay began rather bumpy as the front desk didn't have any record of our reservation but when we produced our papers things were smoothly from that point on. The rooms were comfortable despite being fairly generic and had plenty of closet space but lacked any sort of character whatsoever...however the wifi worked excellent and the BIG walkin shower was a definite plus. The rooms have big floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that look onto the interior patio just before the private beach so there may be privacy issues for some but it is easy to draw the curtain over the window or leave it open as we did and enjoy the sea breeze and view to town. Our breakfast every morning was abundant...coffee to order...hot and cold items as welll many pastries and cheeses and breads and juices. Couldn't really ask for a better breakfast. The hotel is relatively smallish and only offers 10 + rooms but has a beach club that's attached so i can imagine this place to be a rather crowded place in high season but for us in early May it was simply heaven.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the sea so ..all basically are good

This is without doubt the best place we stayed at on our journey through Italy. And we're very careful with where we choose to stay and not easily impressed by hotels in general. But this was perfect.
The nicest most helpful staff. We felt very welcome from the first second. They help with parking and offered to carry our bags.
The room was bright and clean and situated only meters from the beach.
Nice bathroom with large shower.
Every room had their own terrace, beautiful to spend some time during the evening/night. We felt like we were alone with the sea and all the lights from the view of the harbour.
Great breakfast.
Wifi didn't work but that's the only negative thing about this place.
Maybe this should be kept a secret since there are not so many rooms and already full booked but they deserve all the reviews. Thank you for a lovely stay!!!

The location was perfect, and the hotel has a beautiful view. However:
Completely overpriced for a mediocre service.
Employees were rude, specially the front desk, not helpful and had a bad attitude (specially front desk). They never apologized nor made us feel welcome, in the contrary, the manager said it could be a “language barrier” the issues I mentioned the first day we arrived. The bad service never improved even after talking to the manager.
Beach chairs are not included. For the price the hotel charges should be included!
Breakfast is mediocre. The pastries and bread are not daily fresh, they offer the same stuff for about 4 days, and there’s not even a toaster to heat the stale bread. The service at the bar was slow, but the workers in that area were friendly.
I don’t recommend it if you have a baby as there are way to many steps (4 sets of stairs, no kidding!) and it’s impossible to walk with a stroller back and forth by yourself (there’s a ramp available from 8am to 6pm only).
I will never go back there, not recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: It's best to rent any hotel with a beach view and rent chairs at the beach and you will pay 1/3...

We want to go back and we want our same room...so I do not want to give this hotel the rave review it deserves :-) What a lovely place - our rooms right on the beach, fantastic breakfast, private little terrace to sun bath away from the crowds, awesome views, best location in Lerici, which would be a bit crowded if you were a "normal" tourist. Stunning views of the bay and the castle and across to porto venere - a short walk from both Lerici and San Terenzo and easy access to the Cinque Terre - what more could you want. So to be picky what could I fault? Free wireless sucked big time - don't go there if you need to work :-) Whilst we loved the terraces if you want a bed on the beach you have to pay extra - which to me seems absurd - they could add 20€ a day to the room charge and give you beds or credit you if you did not want them. Very simply furnished - nice shower and comfortable clean neat rooms. We loved it - we took three rooms and all three generations, grand parents us and children loved it... definately going back! The superior rooms are a little better!

Room Tip: Don't choose room 1 - that one is ours :-)

Location and style are great: minimalist, unusual for the area and on the beach.
However, also considering the price, is not perfect: you can't really see the sea from the room, private terrace in the shadow in the afternoon, beach is not included, breakfast ok-ish (slow service and low quality local "focaccia"). Moreover they expected us to check out at 11am in a week day (had to negotiate just to keep it for an extra hour) and babies next door started to cry before 8am. Easy if you have very little time and want to relax but don't think will go back.

This was such an amazing Hotel. Loved the modern sleekness of it. Right on the water with the most amazing veiw of the water, the harbor and the quaint town of Lerici! It was in a perfect location and a great place to base yourself especially if you want to visit the Cinque Terra area as well as Santa Margaritia and Portofino. Sandy & Sabina were extrememly friendly and very helpful! They made us feel very comfortable and at home. They truly cared about our stay with them and wanted to make sure we were having a good time. We had our own private sun tanning balcony with amazing sunrise and setset views. Breakfast was delicious and the cappicinos were yummy. Our only regret, we wished we could have stayed longer! I would definately stay there again.

If you are looking for a beach vacation, but don't want to lay side by side on a rented sun bed on a crowded beach, this is the perfect place! With a private sundeck with each room and 10 meters to the water you can enjoy a day "at the beach" without having to pack your beach bag and worrie about your belongings. Basically there is no reason to leave this hotel! There is no restaurant at the hotel. However the city center of Lerici is only a five minutes walk where you'll find plenty of options. Breakfast at the hotel is superb, and the staff is very service minded and friendly. Our best recommendations!
