I have travelled hundreds of time in Italy and stayed in many hotels. Despite the typical and cultural immersion, there is always the little glitch in the perfect picture when you think about accommodations. Hotels are often outdated, underequipped and desperately in the need of TLC to match the other hotels in countries where I have been to (in Europe and Asia).
In this occurrence, it was the first time I experienced an international grade experience, with all the factors gathered for a good stay. Modern, well designed, well finished, very recent and top of the range bathrooms, all the ingredients were gathered for a good experience.
The cold corporate feel is there, and it is definitely a business place. (I might not take my wife there). The breakfast was somewhat blah and really could be perfectioned and improved (when you know the treasures of gastronomy in the region). But the sleep quality, the bathroom and general set up was brilliant.
The fact you are in a baroque city is overwhelming, and really when you walk back into the hotel, you could almost be anywhere, as the place is so corporate impersonal. A shame the hotel bar/lobby is not utilized to bring a bit of life, as it turn the place into a dormitory when you come back from the vibrating center after dinner.
The gym is brilliant and I will certainly come back (while in business), as it was a good surprise for once.
