“Visit the natural ones!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

You have 2 options when it comes to doing the spa's! The first one is the free one, where you can sit in the natural baths and relax, or paying to go into the golf course spa's which has showers and change rooms, which is great as there is a smell that stays with you for a day or so! They are also great, as there are more areas to swim, although the life gaurds who work there are so rude so we actually enjoyed the free spa's more. I have done this on many occasions and is a great way to spend the day! Especially if you are in Tuscany. Its worth seeing.

“No way to try”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

This small village looks like a “tourist trap”. Deserted in the last centuries, it has been re-born thanks to the near thermal springs. In winter the appearance is that of a reversible coma, waiting for a “tourist plucking attitude” in spring and summer. There is nothing of particular interest as monuments or architecture, except for some old buildings. The tobacconist had no link for playing lotto. We entered a bar in the main square (Antico Bar Centrale, Piazza Vittorio Veneto)). The ambient was very dull, the choice of sweets and finger food very poor, the waitress very slow and unfriendly and finally we paid 2 euro for two very ordinary coffees. It is not worth the deviation.
No way to have a look at the spa and thermal compound. The very expensive resort is locked up and a shut iron gate claims for ringing a doorbell under a video camera surveillance if you would see what you will pay for. Not very inviting nor very friendly.

“Just like the locals.. at one with the Earth.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

We stumbled on Saturnia's natural thermal river attraction by chance. Thank goodness for blogs!

We now fondly remember soaking in the warm pools (free of charge), alongside the locals at twilight with the family. It was the highlight of our Italian road trip. We stayed at Agresta B & B which is only 5 minute drive to the river.
Bring your robes to the riverbank and hang it on a tree!

“Bathing as the Etruscans did - waybackwhen ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

The Terme di Saturnia are a wonderful place. The natural hot and sulfuric spings feed severaly overflowing basins ... It's a pleasure for both the elderly and the youngsters!

Mind you - there are two options: The expensive posh thermal baths at the Salus Hotel ... and the hiddel terme libere ... right in the middle of nature ... and it's the latter, that we visited!
