“Typically Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2014

We were a bit put off by some of the reviews of this hotel. It is very typically Italian, in a seaside town on the outskirts of Taormina (about two miles away) We have a lovely room with a sea view, a sitting room, a balcony overlooking the pool and a big bathroom with a hydro bath, shower, bidet, toilet and sink. There is wifi in every room, accessed by a code on the tv screen. Everything is spotless. The included breakfast offered fresh fruit, cold meat, cheeses, cakes, yoghurt, cereal, eggs and some hot dishes. On the seafront there are trattorias selling home cooked local dishes. A meal for two with a litre of wine cost around 40 euros considerably less than in Taormina. The hotel is in a little side street but not isolated or frightening at night - or perhaps only if you live in some sheltered English backwater! We walked to Taormina and back in about 60 minutes each way - on the road there and down cliff steps on the way back. The road was a bit busy and uphill but gave glorious views and the path was a bit rough at the lower end. The open top tour bus, 20 euros for all day stops once an hour just along the Taormina Road outside the railway station. We are no "spring chicken", have travelled lots in Europe and beyond and think that this hotel, booked as a package through Easyjet, is just great value for money.

I stayed here as part of a tour. My mom and I were given a very small room with one bed. Trying to get it changed was a one-hour ordeal. The front desk staff were nice, but seemed disorganized and were really bad at giving you walking directions. The room we finally got was very nice, and had a pull out sofa for a second bed. We had a dinner included on the first night as part of the tour. The wait staff were not very nice. I am a vegetarian, and they have me veal. When I made a face the waiter impersonated me! No customer service from him! They did wind up making me an omelette, which was very good, but they still served it with peas and HAM. Hello... vegetarian??
I decided to walk around the hotel on day, and even though I saw no construction, I was asked to leave the construction zone. I did not understand the man, and told him I speak English he snapped "I am speaking English!". He seemed like he was the general manager or similar... again, no customer service. The power went out one morning, so maybe there was construction. The very good rating came from the lovely appointed room, breakfast, and the nice outdoor bar staff, and Angelina at reception.

Room Tip: The bathroom shower has a sign that says pull handle. What they mean is pull down on the very botto...

I stayed here recently as part of a tour group. The welcome dinner provided in the hotel was one of the worst meals of the trip, the staff appeared untrained aloof and lazy ( when I wanted to settle my extras bill I was asked to come back later. When Infinally went to pay it had someone else's costs on it!). I left an item in the room that the hotel denied was found when the tour director called them - probably just thrown out, and emails to the hotel have not even been acknowledged.

I really loved this hotel. The nice colors, the pool area, the staff were friendly. And everything was so clean. The only negative thing is the walk from the hotel to the Beach. Very narrow roads and dark at night. But we had a car, so for us it was fine. I heard there would be a transfer service from next year.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the pool may be more noisy, but the air condion worked perfectly so no need to keep th...
