“Little gem - best place to stay for a family with children!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011 via mobile

This is a brilliant place to stay with children! The service is exceptional, they really make you feel at home and go out of the way to accomodate you in every way possible. The barman Paolo is fantastic - he has a computer memory and seemed to remember drinks my husband, kids and myself ordered, very professional! The restaurant staff are very efficient and the food is devine!! Oh, my God, I don't know who was writting the review complaining about pasta, but we were on all inclussive package and the pastas were simply devine! The gnocci with mashroom sauce, spaghetti with clams, risottos...absolutely beautiful! I am not really a pasta fan but I know a good thing when I try it - and believe me, a lot of good restaurants would fail in comparisson to the food standard we were served. The manager, Frankie, is simply a gentelman, was very attentive to all our need.
The bus driver, Salvatore, was very-very efficient, recommend him highly if you want to explore the area and enjoy local beauty, very accomodating and professional.
Rooms were superb and they clean it to precision every day - heaven to come back to after a day on the beach! Plus, the maids are really friendly and affectionate, big difference from grumpy and rude staff you meed in other places.
They also had a Sicilian dinner and music on saturday - something I really enjoyed, very family friendly.
The localtion in Recanti is not really a problem, it is a short 15-20 min walk to the beach or a shuttle bus service is fine as well, although the bus does get full at certain times.
Special thanks to Anica, the receptionist, very helpful and organised at all times!
I would most certainly recommend it as it is a lovely spot to stay with a young family, pools are fantastic, atmosphere is brilliant, food is superb - what more can you wish for?

2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2011

I stayed for four nights at the Caesar Palace Hotel in May 2011. The hotel was chosen by the tour operator. I was really disappointed. The hotel is very far from the sea, on a big road with lot of traffic and beside the railway. It is very big and caters mainly for groups. The result is that, at breakfast and dinner, there is a huge confusion. The buffet for dinner was good and rich - and this was the only positive point. It was, on the contrary, disappointing for breakfast (with the exception of a fantastic machine for freshly squeezed orange juices on the spot !). Moreover, the impression was not of cleanliness. A crockroach was seen walking aroud the floor one morning. The rooms are big but very basically furnished and quality of towels in the bathroom was certainly not of a 4-star hotel !

Dear Mrs Claudia,
we are sorry to read that our hotel didn't fulfill your expectations.
The hotel is 1 km far from the hotel, but we daily offer a free shuttle bus service that enable to easily reach the town center and the beach.
We thank you for all your remarks, we will take them in consideration ,to improve our services.

I hope you will give us the chance in the future to welcome you back .

Best Regards

Having travelled many times to Italy, this is the best hotel that I have stayed in. The buffet style was laid out well and the food was delicious, and if one didn't want meat or fish, there was plenty of other food on offer.....and it never ran out despite the large numbers of people that descend on the dining room. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and all the reception and bar staff were very helpful.....and they do speak English. The pool was very clean with lots of seating and sun beds. For those who placed a negative review about the food and the atmosphere - and the language - being Italian.....I wonder why you decided to travel to Italy?? Can I recommend Butlins in England or Benidorm even if you are seeking a home from home experience?? For myself, I find it refreshing that I can travel to a country which has not adopted the "Egg and chips with a pint of lager thrown in" mentality and who provide what I am seeking.....a holiday in Italy. Research on the country you are going to also might be helpful. Sicily has its own language and although many of the Sicilians speak Italian, it will be with a Sicilian accent.....a bit like the various regional accents we have in England!! No different. I would like to say a personal thank you to Catrina and also a big thank you to Paulo who looked after our group very well....Grazie mille. Stammi bene e spero vederti ancora un giorno. La Sicilia è un paese bellissimo e la gente è anche molto gentile.

Food was delicious, rooms comfy and well appointed, including kettles, tea etc. Incredible selection of buffet food for breakfast and dinner. Lovely place to stay and deserves all of its four stars.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2010

My husband and I stayed at Caesar Palace for 10 days from 20 September 2010. We were travelling independently so had to find our way from Catania Airport, which was no problem (thanks to Vagabonda's exellent advice). We caught the Etnia Transporti bus from the bus station at the airport, which goes to Taormina, but stops in Giardini Naxos at Recanati. If you ask the bus driver to drop you off at the top of the road for Hotel Caesar Palace you can walk the 500 yards or so to the hotel.

Check in was fast and efficient, which was just as well because it was after 2 pm and we only had 15 minutes left to eat lunch and we were tired and hungry. The waiters in the dining room are really helpful and, although they were clearly ready to close the dining room, did not mind us turning up late. We found them ready to assist at every mealtime and nothing was too much trouble. The food is varied and excellent at all meals with a good choice of hot and cold food - my husband enjoyed the nightly carvery roasts and I took advantage of the seafood and pasta. The icecream varieties are delicious and we're already missing them. The wine at dinner was excellent - red, white and rose by the bottle or beer from a self-service tap. We had the rose every night - a full bottle (we were all inclusive - so no extra charge). By the way, the drinks at the bar are truly all inclusive too, the spirits were excellent and I even managed to have disaronnu on the rocks each evening before dinner.

The first floor room was clean and spacious and the balcony was exceptionally large with a sort of garden effect, so that you felt you were on a patio. The bathroom was very modern and spotlessly clean with both a full size bath and a shower - unusual for Italian hotels. The beds were very comfortable and the room was cleaned daily. The room also had ample storage space and a small fridge, plus a safe in the floor of the wardrobe which was free of charge. The airconditioning was quiet and efficient and the rooms were generally quiet apart from when you are in the bathroom (the noise travels here between the rooms).

We chose the hotel for its large infinity-style pool and sun terrace (which was wonderful), all inclusive facilities and because it had the least bad reviews on Trip Advisor. It also has the benefit of having a bus stop immediately outside for the all important trip to Taormina. If you need to catch a bus to any of the cities, Recanati bus station is only a 20 minute walk away from the hotel and the bus stop outside the hotel will take you to the bus station if you aren't able to walk it. Recanati also serves most of the SAIS tours to Siracuse and Agrigento.

Whilst the hotel has several travel services offering these trips, there is a small travel agent near the beach (next to the bank) which can also arrange tours locally (probably cheaper). We decided to stay independent and took a three day trip to Palermo in the middle of our stay, catching the bus from Catania Terminal direct to Palermo. It goes every hour in the season and takes approx 2.40 hours for 14 Euro's pp. Once there we stayed at the Hotel Cortese, a small hotel we found on Trip Advisor, which cost approx 60 Euro's per night for the room with breakfast. It was ideally situated for the Palace Normani and Monreale. Do go to Palermo if you have time, it has many treasures in the form of churches and palazzo's and, although very busy, it is well worth the time.

Giardini Naxos itself has a lovely beach and the hotel has it's own section with sunloungers and parasols (the red and navy striped section) at Lido di Naxos, right in front of a modern cafe which serves great food and coffee for when you want a break from sunbathing. (They also do take-away drinks and snacks). The Hotel operates a shuttle bus throughout the day to and from their section of the beach, but beware the scrum for getting on it as a lot of people suddenly appear when the bus turns up and if you have been waiting for some time you could find yourself suddenly at the back of the queue. For this reason we avoided the morning scrum and usually walked down ourselves - its not far - about 15 to 20 minutes walk to the beach. We usually queued up to get it back to the hotel at 4.40 though and you have to be quite determined if you want to get on it! Don't worry though because the driver is very good and will come back for anyone unable to board on the first run - it's only 10 minutes.

As for the hotel entertainment: much has been said in reviews about the lone piano player! Actually he is quite good and the atmosphere in the lounge at night can get quite friendly once people team up, as we did. We even danced on a couple of occasions - it only takes one couple to get it started! By the way, Paolo the Bar Manager/drinks waiter was excellent - a perfect gentleman and he always remembered what everyone was drinking and kept the rounds coming all night.

All in all we had a good holiday at this hotel and had no complaints. The only reservation I would add is that it is quite a distance from Giardini Naxos and if you are not as fit as us you might find this a problem as there is nowhere to walk out to at night and very little in the way of amusement if you don't like sitting in the piano bar. However, the hotels further down in the town do not appear to be of the same high standard, so it's a trade off really. We found that we were out sightseeing a lot of the time, so going out at night was not a priority - a comfortable room and good facilities was higher on our list this time round. The only other note is that the majority of tourists staying here were middle aged Italians and Germans, very few English, but perhaps that was due to the time of year. I noticed the reviews were entirely different for July and August when the hotel is presumably much busier with Italian families. It seems it is a very popular venue for business conferences and family events, so be aware that it can get very busy from time to time (there were several gatherings whilst we were there, including a Sicilian christening party one night), but these did not encroach on our stay which was mostly quiet and uncrowded, it just meant that the dining room could suddenly get very busy. All in all we found the hotel excellent and the staff friendly and helpful.

We loved this hotel - friendly, helpful and great food. The rooms were spotless and we loved the balcony (upgraded for a small supplement - well worth it). Our evening waiter was just THE BEST - personal attention and consideration. I would love to return one day.
