We booked a seaview room and were not disappointed. The room was huge with ample storage space and a lovely view. There was a large safe and also robe and slippers included. The fridge has plenty of room for your own supplies and there is an ice machine on each floor. Toiletries include conditioner which is greatly needed after a day in the pool/sea. There was a free English movie channel which was great and also about 3/4 English news channels, including BBC, CNN and Fox.
Like the other comments here I was disappointed with having to get up at 8.30 each morning to secure a spot by the pool. One day we did not get a bed and had to pay €15 for the 2 of us to have beds on the beach. If this happened each of the 10 days we were there, that would've added €150 to our bill, which is excessive. The hotel misses a complete trick with the poor bar they have down by the beach (this is beside where you get your free towels everyday). A coffee is €2 and a can of beer is €4 for local beer and €5 for a bottle of Heineken. The bar in the lobby is the same and was never busy when we were there. Hence, at lunchtime and dinnertime all the guests seem to head across the road to the 5/6 restaurants which are a cheaper alternative. Pizzas start from €5 and a litre of house white €8. You can also choose from delicious pastas and fresh fish. Antonio in Cafe O' Neil was particularly friendly.
There is a supermarket on the opposite side of the road from the hotel - come out of hotel and turn right continue up past the Euromarket and cross the junction and you will see it at the next corner - it is underground. Here you can buy fresh fruit, bread, delicious cheese, wine etc.
We did the day trip to Panarea and Stromboli - €90 per person. The day starts at 9.30 and you get back to the hotel at 01.00 but it was a lovely day. Explosions on Stromboli every 20 minutes worth seeing.
We got the bus from Catania airport to the hotel (approx 55mins - €7.90) The stop is called Recanati and is just around the corner from the hotel. This is the same bus stop for taking the bus up to Taormina which runs every hour (€2 approx). I walked to Taormina one day - it is about 5 miles and takes 1 hour 20 (uphill).
You won't regret a holiday here and this hotel is one of the best I've stayed in.
Choose a seaview - it's worth it
