“Pleasant couple of days in Garda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I've just got back form 2 nights in the Hotel Benaco in Garda after a short last minute visit to meet up with some friends. The hotel gave e everything I wanted at a very good price.

My room was on the first floor and was spacious with a good sized shower room. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

The location was excellent, just a minute across the road and you are at the end of the promenade with a large choice of restaurants.

Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice to match most tastes.

Staff were friendly and very helpful.

My only criticisms are very small. The bed was very hard and there was a broken bedside lamp in the room. Neither of these things detracted from a lovely stay.

Room Tip: There is no lift, if you can't do stairs, this is not the place to stay. Don't come here fo...

The Hotel Benaco in Garda town is a great mix of modern and elegant, spotlessly clean and has very helpful staff. It does not have a lift and I was on the 2nd floor which I found tiring on 'old' legs, but on arrival my case was taken upstairs for me.
I was booked into a 'single' room but I would say it is a double. It had a very comfy double bed, lots of storage for clothes, and a balcony. There is an abundance of towels, four comfy pillows, and a duvet in the cupboard if you are cold. The bathroom is large with a whirlpool bath [very efficient shower over], a bidet, and a wc. There is a hairdryer, a large basin with a variety of toiletries [soaps, shampoo, body lotion, toothbrush/paste, shower cap etc]. There is a safe in the room [no charge] and also a very handy mini fridge. The only thing I would have liked would have been tea/coffee making facilities in the room - you won't be able to have a cuppa on waking. I also found my plug adaptors would not fit in any of the sockets except the one the fridge was plugged into under the dressing table.
There is very efficient air-conditioning in the rooms also heating if needed.
The hotel is a 3min walk to the ferry terminal, 6min to the bus station, and within moments of the lakeside promenade and dozens of restaurants, shops and ice-cream vendors.
Breakfast are very good [8am - 11am], self service, with a choice of cereals, fresh fruit salad, fruit juices, a varied selection of bread rolls, pastries, croissants, selection of sliced cold meats, cheese, jams, toast, bacon and scrambled egg. The drinks machine dispenses various coffees or just hot water to make a cup of tea [choice of tea-bags]. The girls in there have very good english and are very helpful. They do not do evening meals but there are a host of restaurants in Garda town. There is a vine covered seating area at the front of the hotel which is very comfy and where you can smoke, but nowhere to sit out in the sun and there is no pool. You can also smoke on your balcony [ashtray provide].
All in all I would recommend Benaco but just be aware it is on the main road, has no lift, has no pool, and no outdoor sunbathing area.

We are a family of 6 and booked 4 rooms. We couldn't fault anything, the hotel is run by Martina who is lovely and will go out of her way to help in any situation. We were let down by public transport when we were leaving for the airport and could have missed our flight. Martina didn't hesitate in offering to take us to the train station to catch a later train to the airport. We will definately return and can thoroughly recommend the Hotel Benaco.

After 24 hours on the road we needed a place to stay for the night on our trip to southern Italy in July. Luckily they had a room, although no with a view. But all we really needed was a room for my wife, me and our 9 year old boy. We had an extra bed in our room which made the otherwise nice room feel very small. But otherwise it was a nice hotel, but nothing extra ordinary. The Americans would call this a boutique hotel. Location was super for a walk in the town. We took off after a good breakfast.
I'll love to come back later with a little more time in wonderful Garda.

May 3-6, 2012 we visited Lake Guarda area and stayed in the small Hotel Benaco. We were very happy with our accommodations. It is a small 2 story hotel (no elevator) just across the street from the beautiful waterfront esplanade. The hotel is very modern with a lovely, large lounge/bar area all in black and white. Our rooms were good size with 2 double beds, modern bath, hair dryer, etc. Even tho the hotel is on the main thoroughfare thru town, it is very quiet at night .
The hotel also has a seating area our front where you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. An excellent breakfast is included in a modern room near the lobby. It is just steps across the street to the main area on the waterfront with all the restaurants and gelato area's where you can sit out and enjoy the people in the evening.
A HUGH street fair is held each Friday right on the waterfront esplanade. A wonderful treat.

We have stayed at this hotel 7 times now. It is such a welcoming, great hotel, the rooms are lovely with a balcony with either twin or double beds. It is also fabulously clean and confortable. The breakfast is also great, everything regularly refilled and lots of choice. Staff both on reception and breakfast are lovely. Car parking on site is good. Very good value. In a good location not far from the lake. If there is a down side it is the busy road in front of the hotel - but everything else outways that.

Room Tip: Rooms on front are sunny

Our third visit to Lake Garda and this time we booked independently instead of through a travel agent. This hotel is an absolute gem! The hotel is lovely, rooms were very clean and modern and the bathrooms spotless! Breakfast was great, lots of choice and the staff were more than happy to make something at your request. The air con was FAB!! Temperatures outside were over 87 degrees so we were very impresses with how cool the room was.

2 minutes walk to the ferry and had a great restuarant opposite at the Silvestro. We had a fantastic meal on our last night and some of the choices included Taglietelle with hare which my husband had. Real home cooking!! Would definately recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: No lift but only 2 storeys and the staff will carry your bags to and from your room. Full sun all a...
