The Hotel Benaco in Garda town is a great mix of modern and elegant, spotlessly clean and has very helpful staff. It does not have a lift and I was on the 2nd floor which I found tiring on 'old' legs, but on arrival my case was taken upstairs for me.
I was booked into a 'single' room but I would say it is a double. It had a very comfy double bed, lots of storage for clothes, and a balcony. There is an abundance of towels, four comfy pillows, and a duvet in the cupboard if you are cold. The bathroom is large with a whirlpool bath [very efficient shower over], a bidet, and a wc. There is a hairdryer, a large basin with a variety of toiletries [soaps, shampoo, body lotion, toothbrush/paste, shower cap etc]. There is a safe in the room [no charge] and also a very handy mini fridge. The only thing I would have liked would have been tea/coffee making facilities in the room - you won't be able to have a cuppa on waking. I also found my plug adaptors would not fit in any of the sockets except the one the fridge was plugged into under the dressing table.
There is very efficient air-conditioning in the rooms also heating if needed.
The hotel is a 3min walk to the ferry terminal, 6min to the bus station, and within moments of the lakeside promenade and dozens of restaurants, shops and ice-cream vendors.
Breakfast are very good [8am - 11am], self service, with a choice of cereals, fresh fruit salad, fruit juices, a varied selection of bread rolls, pastries, croissants, selection of sliced cold meats, cheese, jams, toast, bacon and scrambled egg. The drinks machine dispenses various coffees or just hot water to make a cup of tea [choice of tea-bags]. The girls in there have very good english and are very helpful. They do not do evening meals but there are a host of restaurants in Garda town. There is a vine covered seating area at the front of the hotel which is very comfy and where you can smoke, but nowhere to sit out in the sun and there is no pool. You can also smoke on your balcony [ashtray provide].
All in all I would recommend Benaco but just be aware it is on the main road, has no lift, has no pool, and no outdoor sunbathing area.
