“Little Bit of Hotel Roma, Garda, Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

This is a splendid family run hotel, perfectly placed looking on to the lake front, very central for shopping, eating, relaxing also a stones throw from ferry, bus station too.
They care that you have a good experience, always helpful when you want to find someplace or particular item to buy.

Fabulously friendly staff, food is good too, and do try their geletaria, but don't eat too much before, because they are soooo.... generous and far too good to waste.

They have 24/7 Air-conditioning, an elevator, So you can be cool when you want unlike "other hotels on the strip" Best to check before you book!! with any other hotel, especially if you use Thompson/Crystal Lake" because they deny all knowledge if you do not have it in small print.
You can book the Hotel Roma yourself, let them know of your arrival beforehand, and they will collect you and your luggage from the airport. So book your own flight too, it will be cheaper, but that is not the main reason to do this. Simply you do not need Thomsons/Crystal as they are not helpful, never there when you need them, and get money "for old rope as they say". You will get all and any help you need from reception at the Roma...simply lovely people, in a lovely setting. Lots to do, lots to see, book excursions when you get there, they are far cheaper too. Enjoy..........

Room Tip: You can have a small or large balcony, side room, to be honest, we have been in 3 different rooms, a...

“Excellent as Usual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

We've been staying at the Hotel Roma for many years and keep coming back. Our last trip was at the end of August. It's so well located right on the lakeside, in the centre of town and in the middle of all the bars and restaurants. Step out of the hotel and you're immediately on lake edge and less than a minute's walk to the shops and ferry point. The rooms are fairly basic, but kept exceptionally clean by two lovely ladies. There is a small fridge to keep bottles of water and the occasional bottle of prosecco chilled, and a safe for valuables (free of charge). If you go for a room on the front of the hotel you'll have a balcony to sit out and watch world stroll by (or zip across the water).
The family rooms on the first floor have a larger terrace, as do the slightly smaller rooms on the top floor, although these also have less storage space so don't pick these unless you travel light! Double glazed doors mean the rooms are very quiet when closed, and the air conditioning is a boon on a really hot day. Earlier reviews say this isn't working, but on speaking to Roberto (the owner) I get the impression that the people just hadn't known how to switch it on! Just ask if in doubt. One of the main reasons for us returning to this hotel so often is the helpful and friendly management and staff. They really make our stay special.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but does serve snacks (pizzas, salads etc) drinks and fabulous icecreams. Breakfast is served outside on a covered terrace, and there is a fairly good continental selection available, plus often a few interesting extras such as fruit torte and strudel.
A tip for any new visitors is to ask the receptionist to give you a Welcome Card, which will give you discounts on the ferry tickets. A useful saving when there are so many other lovely towns around the lake just begging to be visited. If you want to go to Gardaland then make sure you get the part of the Welcome Card that will give you discounts for entry tickets here too. The bus station is only a few minutes walk from the hotel, and there are frequent buses which go between Verona and Riva (at the top of the lake) and stop at all the towns in between, so this is a quicker and cheaper alternative to the ferries and the views are nearly as spectacular. Can't wait for our next trip!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have balconies or terraces, whilst those at the back of the hotel overlook a smal...

“Very Mixed Feelings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Roma in July/August 2012. We booked online with the Lakes and Mountains divison of a major tour operator. We paid a large supplement to secure a lake view room and all correspondence received confirmed that our booking had been successful.

The Room
We opened the curtains of Room 44 to see a group of people standing on the viewing platform of an apartment across a narrow side street- they could see directly into our room. This cage like structure belonged to one of three rooftop apartments in close proximity to our room. As it was high season the patios of these apartments were used for outdoor living; this included BBQ,outdoor televion and general entertaining. There were frequent visitors to the viewing platform during our two week stay. We did have a terrace accessed at the side of the building. This was large, had sunloungers and was a sun trap. The lake could not be seen sitting down but could be seen if you stood up and looked over the edge. We found the room to be cramped and the bed was shorter length wise than a standard double.

Positive
The Hotel Roma is in a perfect location. The breakfasts were excellent ; the waiters were very friendly and efficient. The hotel was meticulously clean. There was free computer access in one of the lobbies. A fridge, air condtioning and a safe deposit box was included in the price. The true lakefront rooms have spectacular views; they looked airy and spacious. If we had stayed in one of these rooms we too, like a previous reviewer, would be calling this a 'little gem 'of a hotel. Our Room 44 was not worth a supplement in excess of £300 . This room is one of eight terrace rooms but the only terrace room not to face the lakefront.

Lake Garda is a beautiful place to visit but our holiday was marred by our stay in Room 44 ( July 2012)

We always read Trip advisor reviews but never thought that we would write one.

Room Tip: The majority of the lakefront view rooms are booked by independent travellers. When we booked w...

“Return to ROMA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

What can one say, this hotel is just fantastic. No frills or fancies, a basic hotel which meets all requirements for a great holiday. This year was our second holiday at the Roma and we have booked for a third holiday in 2013.
Location is just perfect, centrally situated to all ameneties and located right on the lakeside. Staff are very courteous, friendly and remember you from one year to another and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are spotless, the air conditioning works really well, and beds are comfortable. Breakfast has a great choice with something for everyone, Ray and Marco the waiters tend to your every need and will even help you in learning Italian. The hotel is a great place to sit in the evenings for a drink or ice cream.
The hotel has "a call of the wild" in other words you just have to go back again and again.
I highly recommend this hotel for couples and singles and say to those reading this review to book a holiday at this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Choose a room with lake view then you can people watch. Trees partially block view of the lake but...

“Excellent hotel 10 out of 10”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

The hotel was better than expected. The staff are very helpful, its exceptionally clean and the location is wonderful. We had a patio room on the fourth floor with unrestricted views of the lake, it was perfect (room 42 if you want to book) Breakfast had something for everyone and was included in the price as was airport transfers, which was a wonderful service. We had Pizza for lunch a couple of times, they are happy for you to share and its lovely. If you are going to stay in Garda this is the place to be! The weather was lovely and we were grateful for the aircon. Rooms also have a free safe and fridge.

Room Tip: Fourth floor have patios and are very quiet
