“Very pretty authentic family run hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

Hotel Madrina is a small family run hotel which offers accommodation over three floors. Furnished in an understated Italian rustic country style. The gardens are beautifully kept and the maintenance man was always to be seen doing something in the grounds. Nice pool and comfortable loungers.
The views were just lovely and the staff friendly. Only minutes walk from the lake and lots of beautiful restaurants and cafés. Complimentary bikes that you can borrow anytime is a lovely way to see other villages.
Our room was a good size but could not be described as a suite and the bathroom was on the small side and dated. The food I would describe as average at breakfast, but lunch snacks were very good. We chose not to eat dinner here. I would recommend this hotel to adults not families. We had a lovely stay here but my reservation is that the sound proofing in the hotel is poor and you can hear noise from neighbours, gardens, balconies and corridors when you are in your room.

Room Tip: A second or third floor room will offer beautiful views otherwise all rooms face the same direction...

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel, our first visit was as a couple, 2nd with our parents and brother, this time with our grown up children. As the title says, Perfect. This is a quiet hotel in wonderful surroundings but please don't tell everyone, we don't want it to change at all.

Just back from a weeks break in the Villa Madrina in Garda. When booking we were attracted by the fact that it only had 34 rooms and this was a big plus for us . We were on the ground floor and our bedroom patio doors opened out on to the garden which meant we had around 20 steps to get to the pool. There were more that sufficient pool beds for everyone at any time of the day which was great. Although small the hotel did not seem full when we were there and we assumed there were travellers on B & B only as there were never more than 7 or 8 tables taken for dinner. However this led to excellent service from the waiting staff who very quickly got to know us. For such a small number of guests there was a good choice for dinner with 4 choices for second, main course and sweet.( first course was a buffet salad bar). We were content to move on to the poolside patio after dinner and relax with a coffee and a drink. Gala dinner once a week with pianist which was nice. 5 minute stroll down the hill to the resort centre which was ideal. Altogether a great experience for our first time on Lake Garda.

Room Tip: All rooms face the pool , we were on the ground floor which meant we could walk stright out to the p...

We stayed at Hotel Madrina for a week from July 10th.
For its size it is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.
We had a Hibiscus Suite which was large with a fabulous terrace. The room was spotless and the aircon actually worked.
The owner Mr Tondini is charming and nothing is too much trouble for him and his hand picked staff.
We booked half board and the evening meals were fabulous. The Thursday Gala Night with Mr Tondini was one of the best we have had.
The hotel is a great base for Lake Garda, Verona and Venice. We will certainly be returning.
This must be the best hotel in Garda.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

We stayed at Hotel Madrina for a week in late June. The hotel is in a lovely position, just 5 minutes walk from the lakeside in Garda. Maybe a 10 minute walk back uphill after a hot day's walking around this beautiful area. We had a second floor room which was newly refurbished with a super bathroom with monsoon shower. All toiletries provided and plenty of towels. Pool towels were also provided. Our terrace had a wonderful view out over the garden and down to the lake. There is a small fridge and a kettle and tea and coffee in the room, although no milk! I would bring the milk jug back with me from breakfast and put it in the fridge for tea later on. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.
We were lucky to get a deal where evening dinner was included for the cost of bed and breakfast so we ate there every evening. The meals were nice, nothing outstanding but nothing really poor either. There is a buffet salad bar to start, a starter of pasta, gnocchi or a pastry item, then a main course of choice, followed by a choice of dessert. The chef seemed to like making mousses for pudding! The wine list was very reasonably priced and the young Romanian lady sommelier was very knowledgable and helpful. we had wonderful local white wines each night for between 18 and 30 euros.
Breakfasts were buffet style with fresh and tinned fruit, yogurt, pastries, cold meats and smoked salmon with assorted breads. There were two hot dishes with bacon and scrambled eggs but they were well overcooked so we didn't try them.
The garden is beautiful, very well kept, and the pool area is lovely. There are plenty of sun loungers but the cushions on them were quite thin so they became uncomfortable after a while. The pool is large and was very welcome in the heat of the afternoons. The waitresses came round to take drinks orders quite regularly but didn't push you to purchase.
We would recommend Hotel Madrina as it was lovely to return to a quieter setting each evening but it was near enough to the lake to wander back down after dinner for a walk and an Amaretto on ice overlooking the lake.

Room Tip: Choose a top floor room for the view, but be aware that they do not have baths, just showers.

Everything was superb. The hotel is in a good position just 10mins walk away from the town, so easy to get to the busy vibrant lake front while being able to enjoy the quiet relaxing atmosphere at the hotel. The food, staff and facilities were all first rate. We too will return

Unfortunately we were only there for a week, but was well worth the visit. The staff were extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. The food both at breakfast and dinner was first class. Couldn't fault the hotel in any way - will definitely return. Thanks for a wonderful week Villa Madrina
Sue and Geoff Alexander.

Room Tip: We found the ground floor very convenient.
