“Fantastic location on lakeside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

A fantastic location right on the shore of Lake Garda. Lovely smal hotel offering bed and breakfast. Buffet type breakfast with plenty of choice. Although the bedrooms are small they are lovely and clean. I was a little concerned before my visit that this hotel was only a two star but chose it because of its location. We were not disappointed at all, in fact we loved it, especially having a balcony overlooking the lake. There are trees in front obscuring some of the view of the lake but you could still see the lake and could spend time 'people watching' from the balcony. If you want total peace and tranquility don't chose this hotel as it can be a bit noisy being right on the lakeside. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We loved it and if in Garda would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: A room with a lake view and balcony is a must.

I haven't stayed at the hotel, but I did eat at the restaurant after some friends raved about it. I have to say I was really disappointed. The food and the atmosphere was ok, but in my opinion it is overpriced.

The worst part was the service. Despite the waiters recognising our friends and remembering their names from previous years, the service was poor. In each course, at least one dish failed to show up and although the restaurant was not busy, the service was incredibly slow.

There are other much better restaurants in Garda.

My daughter and I visited this hotel 18th August 2012

I read the reviews on this hotel some good some bad, forget about the bad ones ignore them!!!
All the staff including the owner were very friendly and accommodating, the food was good B&B only but the restaurant was very good especially the fish, the hotel had only 3 floors we were on the secondfloor the room was quite small but more than adequate, twin beds shower and excellent air con thank goodness as it was really hot,the room was exceptionally clean as was the bed linen and towels, we were on the side of the hotel and had a lake view, quiet and very pleased with everything, hoping to return next year,I can highly recommend this hotel and locality

Room Tip: No tips really more than satisfied with everything

As with many of the previous reveiwers I will try to balance my comments.
Positives - maid service superb (even folded pj's at the beginning of the holiday tho not latterly, reasons may become clearer)
Has a iift
Room and ensuite spotless and great air conditioner. The hotel itself wonderfully appointed only a very short distance from the lake. Pretty, clean exterior with the front rooms having tiny flower-strewn balconies.
The hotel is also close to shops albeit there is only two little supermarkets locally there are plenty of little souvenir shops in the lanes behind the hotel itself.
The ferry port and local bus station are within walking distance
Ok so now the rest of the story.........my husband and I arrived for a 10 day stay to a haphazard welcome. Having been given a room on the third floor I asked if that could be changed to a lower level for health reasons the answer was an abrupt no!
The room was very small with a wall outlook beng overlooked by the neighbours whose balcony had a direct view of our room. No tea or coffee making facilities, no hairdryer or access to an iron or board. One electric point only.
All of these things could have been made more tolerable if the staff adjusted their attitudes which were absolutely dreadful on a scale of complete disinterest to downright rude. Their whole focus appeared to be the restaurant rather than paying guests. We ate there on the first night it was expensive, food was lukewarm but tasty. The next day our rep informed us that hotel guests got 10% off food and drink, we had not been told this by staff. Breakfast was lovely but much of the food was left uncovered and if down after 9 o'clock (7.30-10.00) there was no guarantee that there had been no contamination from the inevitable flies milling around. Breakfast was served by one of the two staff that were pleasant and reasonably affable (discounting the cleaners). However when we missed breakfast we were quizzed as to why we were seen drinking coffee at the cafe next door (again we were ignored by the hotel staff when we sat there first so forced to move)
On one night during our stay we ordered a quick coffee before going to bed and after waiting 30 minutes with no drinks appearing and no explanation we gave up and went back to our room. As a result of this we were ignored and treated with even more disdain with things coming to a head several days later when we were publicly humiliated by a member of staff 'telling us off' for leaving!!! Despite being paying guests we were told that he 'had a restaurant to run' and we had no grounds to complain if drinks took longer than average.
Our very last issue you will be glad to hear came on the morning we were leaving when, having deliberately gone to the bother of asking if we owed any money so that it could be settled the night before and told no, we were chased, yes chased, in front of other guests for 2 euros (we got a bottle of water on our first day). A classic goodbye to a wonderful holiday whose satisfaction thankfully was not dependent on our hotel staff.

My partner and I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. What a disappointment!
When we booked the hotel with the travel agent we asked for a room on one of the higher floors and a balcony if at all possible.
5 parties got off the coach in Garda and we were all staying in Giardinetto. The gentleman (a waiter i believe) who checked us in didn't ask for anyone's name, he just allocated room numbers in a first come, first served kind of way, so no-one's requests could have possibly be honoured.
We ended up in room 6 - overlooking an alley way and directly over the kitchens. It was so noisey and very small - you had to close the bathroom door to be able to sit on the toilet!
The only quiet time we had (when we could sleep) was between 2.30am and 5.45am. This was due to kitchen noise and then the maids.
The rooms were spotlessly clean and the AC worked a treat though!

We also ate in the hotel's restaurant and as other's have mentioned, the service was hostile. We shared the seafood risotto for 2 which was very disappointing and actually we were both quite poorly for the rest of the evening.

Very poor.

Room Tip: As for a high floor room.

We have just spent 7 days at the Hotel Giardinetto in Garda. Location in Garda itself was excellent, right on the lake front. Check in was a little underwhelming and at first it didn't seem overly friendly, but this was more to do with the relaxed attitude of the staff than anything else. The room was spotless and cleaned every day to a high standard. The en suite was very good with a top shower and a bath also. The bedroom was basic and lacked plug sockets with only one taking the standard two pin European plugs, the others were for three pins, which we didn't have an adaptor for. We had no view at all being on the side of the building, so we overlooked the next door hotel's roof. They do have lake front rooms, so it would be worth asking for one if you book directly with them as some had balconies, which would have been lovely. Air con was excellent though.
Being in such a prime location it was quite noisy in the mornings on several days and ear plugs came in handy. Also the shutters failed to keep out the light, so I ended up improvising with beach towels over the windows!
We stayed b&b and the breakfast was fine. A selection of the usual meats and cheeses, but lots of fresh fruit, cereal, yogurts etc. something to suit everyone.
The hotel is also a restaurant with a huge range of food, especially fish and seafood. Out first meal there of spaghetti with seafood was excellent and we had excellent service, but the second night (very busy night with lots of covers) was less inspiring. We learned from our rep. that as guests we were entitled to 10% discount, but on our first night we didn't know this so we didn't get it. We asked for it in the second night, but when the bill came they hadn't done it so we had to ask again. I'd advise eating earlier when it less busy to get the best service. We didn't eat there again.
All in all it was a pleasant stay and some of the staff (especially the breakfast crew) were really lovely and friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake front room if you can, but take your earplugs as mornings can be noisy with deliverie...

Location of this hotel is excellent right on the lake side unfortunately for us we stayed just one night in a standard room (no lake view). The room was rather small but clean. Bed was comfy and AC working. Breakfast was a wide selection of fresh fruits, great cheese and others. Staff was nice.

Room Tip: Go for a room with a lake view!
