“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Stayed here for a week in July on half board basis. We could not fault it especially the food which was first rate every night. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything about the hotel was spot on. The room was large and kept spotlessly clean. The pool was small but fun with a whirlpool section and waterfall. Great for cooling off on a hot day. The location was perfect with the lake promenade a few minutes away and the main resort 5-10 minutes walk away. We would highly recommend it.

Just returned from a two week stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it. It is one of the Thompson's small and friendly hotels and get's 4 stars. From arrival to departure, the staff where excellent and always polite and willing to help with just about anything. We stayed on a half-boar basis an the food was very good. The hotel is perfectly placed being a stones throw away from the busy Garda streets - it took 5 minutes to stroll down to the busy streets in the evening. It is also very close to the ferry stop so getting away from Garda for a day was also very easy. The room was small but very clean and it had everything I needed - a comfy bed and good showering facilities - oh yes and the TV had BBC1 and 2 so a bonus there, although I saw very little of it.

Room Tip: If you prefer to have a balcony then make sure it says so when you book.

a) perfectly located just outside Garda, very close but very quiet place
b) trees all around, so it's shady and many rooms have a terrace
c) staff is warm and attentive everywhere, reception, breakfast, restaurant
d) international ambience

Words can not express the excellence in every aspect this hotel provides, from reception staff, bar and restaurant staff, nothing is too much trouble for them. Excellent food, gala evenings exceptional. Location is perfect, relaxing ,yet just a few minutes walk from the buzz of the lake side activities. It is of benefit to upgrade room as the views are so beautiful.
Cleanliness and maintenance of room/bathroom first class. No hesitation in recommending this to fellow travellers who enjoy a touch of class.

Room Tip: Lake side rooms or front rooms although extra price, worth it

Stayed here for a week from 12-19 June. It was our second stay at this lovely hotel and it was just as good as the first. Holiday didn't get off to the best of starts thanks to French air traffic controllers (arrived at the hotel just before midnight instead of tea-time). Had the room next door to the onewe stayed in last time which over-looked the car park - no complaints as we hadn't paid for a lake view but I think we may do next time.
Room was really nice, free safe is a nice bonus - cleaners are brilliant !! Only stayed bed and breakfast so can't comment this time on the evening meals.( Ate out in the town every night and the restaurants were uniformly excellent !! )Breakfast is a bit limited however and a few sausages wouldn't go amiss !! One small niggle was not having an iron in the room or even able to get one - you have to pay for the housekeeper to do any ironing so make sure you take a travel iron with you !
Nice swimming pool and no problems getting a sunbed
We will be back !!

Lovely hotel

Stayed here with my partner & 3 year old for 10 days. Room 412 on the roof with private terrace sun loungers parasol table & chairs - partial sea view & can only be described as superb. The room was spacious enough to have an extra bed & the bathroom was a really good size also. Access was also free to the gardaaqua centre which was a great bonus with 3 outdoor pools all heated & 2 indoor excellent facilities for all the family. Take your own lunch if you are visiting on a number of occasions as there is limited variety. We stayed on a B&B basis however heard others complement the evening meals they had. Breakfast has a wide variety of what we would describe as continental items & omelettes made to order a good selection. After 10 days though you may start to find you are looking for something a little different. The staff were very attentive & always happy to assist with whatever your question - prego :-) A special mention to the lady who looked after our room & the waitress who entertained our little miss blowing bubbles. A good location for touring up & down the lake. Many have mentioned the road outside the hotel which can be a little scary when pushing a pram however use your scrupples like you would anywhere else & rest assured that the hotel is doing everything they can to pertition to keep the path clear of cars. Use the bus service it's much quicker & cheaper than the boats (still use them for short distances). If we could ask for one improvement it would be to heat the hotel pool. Enjoy & make the most of your holiday whatever your age Lake Garda has something to offer.

Room Tip: 412 as described above

This is a family run hotel at the north end of Garda. The main road separates the hotel from the lake but the building is elevated. All rooms have views of the lake but especially the superior ones that seem to have to be booked directly with the hotel. The side rooms have a limited view and I think are smaller than the front rooms. There is a balcony for sitting out overlooking the lake and pool. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable. The road can be a little noisy with the window open but this did not bother us. In fact the variety of traffic is interesting. Walking from the lake the last 100m is gently uphill on the road which means that children have to be looked after. There is quite an uphill walk from the road to the hotel reception but it was not problematic for an 80 year old. The advantage of this location is that you are on the lake promenade only a short walk from the hotel. The staff are attentive and friendly and the in house dinner is good value and fun. The tables are a little close together but this may be a reflection that the outside terrace was not being used for dinner during our visit. Once a week there is a Gala dinner which is well worth booking. About 300m on the lake shore is a "lido" where there is a small bar and a park owned by the hotel with loungers. It is a peaceful area where you can swim in the lake but really nothing much else to do there. There is free parking at the hotel but the drive is very steep and I suspect crowded in the main holiday season. There is free wifi and this worked reasonably well. In all a very good stay and the dinner is worth having on most nights although for variety it is easy to walk to the waterfront restaurants also.

Room Tip: Paying a bit more for a superior room is worthwhile
