“Wow, wow,wow!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

I won’t say much about Lake Garda as this review is primarily about the hotel, suffice to say, beautiful area, plenty to do/see, friendly locals. Bit wet in October/November but that’s just how it is. If you have to have heat, go in the Summer, if you’re not bothered (like me) it’s less busy later in the year, but the weather is a gamble.

Now, where to start with the Excelsior le Terrazze, there’s a reason why it’s number one in Garda on here!

We had a front balcony room, the view itself was worth every penny of what was in itself a very reasonably priced weeks holiday.

Some might complain the room was small, it really wasn’t, there was plenty of room for us to make a mess in, and a balcony to put wet umbrellas (October/November, umbrella required!) The bed was two singles pushed together, but why would that be a problem, it was a very comfortable bed. Furnishings were fine, décor perfectly good, neutral.

I mention this because it seems to have been an issue with some reviewers, and I don’t really get that.

The place is absolutely spotless, from lobby, to restaurant, to bar, to terrace, to grounds and to pool, the pool wasn’t used all week as it was too cold (and a bit wet on a couple of days!) but it was still cleaned even though it could just as easily have been emptied and made life easier! But a full/clean pool is more attractive to look at than an empty one, so I think that’s why.

The bedroom cleanliness gets a special mention. We got two or three visits from our cleaning fairy most days. Even on days when the rooms were being cleaned whilst at a pre shower breakfast, which means we missed the towel change, we would get them replaced later in the day anyway. The bins would be emptied more than once, and the beds were turned down. When the cleaning Angel met us on the landing she always asked if everything was ok, it always was!

The driveway up to the hotel is very steep, but you know what, that means it’s on the side of a hill and that the view will be even better!

Restaurant, bar and reception staff couldn’t do enough to help and to make our stay as pleasurable and comfortable as possible.

All in all, a hotel that does not charge five star prices, but certainly gives a five star service. I for one can’t wait to go back!

“"Excellent Excelsior in Gorgeous Garda".”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The hotel was better than our expectation, great location just a couple of minutes from the the start of the main village. We didn't request a room a such just asked for a double room,it had a side balcony but it still had a lovely view of the lake and was a pleasant surprise as we hadn't requested one.the room was well equipped all toiletries provided, lovely pure white towels plenty provided, fresh everyday, lovely white sheets changed every other day the rooms was cleaned every day it was emmaculate the whole hotel was emmaculate. The hotel staff were all very helpful, very polite and pleasant, the reception staff were excellent, there was one lady (sadly we didn't get her name)on reception who was wonderful she was so helpful, we wanted to visit Venice she was great telling us the best way to travel, the cheapest and quickest she even printed maps, train timetables and her English was very good i really wish i had got her name as she deserved a special mention. The breakfast which was in the price was great so much to choose from, sadly we never tried any of the other food or the free afternoon tea as we did lots of site seeing, we wished we had booked for longer, would highly recommend this hotel, and would stay again if i was ever lucky enough to visit Lake Garda again, we had a fantastic 4 day break, if you go and have chance to see other area's around the Lake go and see 'Limo one' its a beautiful little place. If i was to visit Lake Garda again i would like to go earlier in the year only because Garda was very quiet in the evening as it was nearly the end of the season, but we were very lucky with the weather it was like an indian summer, all in all just a BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE. from O'Neills

“Excellent Excelsior”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We booked a small room without a balcony from booking.com, but when we arrived to the hotel, they told us that we got upgraded to a bigger room with a balcony and a view to the lake. The room was great with a big bed. The service at the reception was good(in english) and the whole hotel was exactly like a place with 4 stars should be. Nice "afternoon tea", and the breakfast really exceeded our expectations with on-demand-omelettes! The pool looked nice, shame that our visit was in November:( Even though it was cold outside it was warm at night in the room.
Garda city centre is located walking distance from the hotel and the lake boulevard is just a few steps from the hotel entrance.
I would definately stay there again and recommend to people who I know that are picky with hotels.

“very nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

It was the best hotel of our Northern Italy trip. They upgraded us to a full lake view room (no:112 I think). I shoud warn you though that there is no food after 20 pm. But the Garda center is very close, on Thursday there is a local market but it is clothing mostly and not so good stuff. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Breakfast was good.

Room Tip: must aks for a lake view room

“Fantastic Hotel Excelsior Le Terrazze”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We have just returned from a wonderful week’s holiday on Lake Garda staying at the superb Hotel Excelsior Le Terrazze. The experience has been pure pleasure from start to finish.
Booking independently through the hotel web site was easy; my queries and booking details were always answered in a friendly and efficient manner in English. A few weeks before our arrival I noticed a mention on the web site of free transfers for guests who were arriving by air or train and upon enquiry whether our booking qualified for this, I was told yes, the hotel provided free transfers for bookings of five days or more, thus on arrival at Verona airport, we were met and speedily transported by taxi to the hotel door which was an unexpected but welcomed bonus.
As well as being a beautifully clean and attractive hotel throughout all the public areas and in our room, the ethos of this lovely hotel seems to be about giving excellent service and great value to its guests from the superb four course evening meal every evening, (a bargain at only 18 euros extra for half board) and the reasonably priced wine and drinks menu, to the additional free afternoon tea and cakes served each day between 4.00pm – 5.00 pm. Guests can either sit inside in the airy white lounge or outside at one of many tables and chairs on the sunny terrace.
Other reviews have already mentioned the glorious lake views especially if, like us, you have a room on the fourth floor. It is indeed worth the extra cost because not only do you have the view but you also have your own large terrace with sun loungers and tables and chairs in which to relax or sun bathe.
Having had to holiday previously in the peak months of July or August we expected and found Garda to be a much quieter place in mid to late October. During the day the resort was still pleasantly active , filled almost exclusively with coach fulls of middle aged /older German tourists. In the evening, there was little or no activity along the lake front after dusk so having a TV in our room with English channels was much appreciated to while away an hour or two after our evening stroll each day.
Finally mention must be made about the excellent hotel staff especially those who served us in the restaurant each day, every one of whom were unfailingly friendly, smiling and efficient.
We have been going to Garda for many years and we only wish we had discovered the Excelsior Le Terrazze earlier. We shall try to remedy this now as we do not intend to stay anywhere else from now on when we return to Garda, however, the problem is going to be finding availability there as a quick search recently on the hotel website for next year revealed no vacancies for the dates we want!
So if you are lucky enough to book a room at this hotel, then don’t hesitate because it won’t be available for long!
