“Don't use Holidaysbooked.com”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

The hotel was good for the price and the staff were very friendly and helpful, even though the food was a little doubtful at times. Rooms were clean and a minor problem with a lock was fixed promptly. The pool was clean with plenty of sun loungers, although the road noise could be a little irritating at times.

However, the transfer arrangements provided by Holidaysbooked.com were appaling! The journey to the hotel was hair raising including driver using mobile phone at 140kph and taking his other hand of the wheel to make gestures, overtaking on the wrong side on the motorway and following dangerously close to other cars.

If that trip wasn't bad enough, the return was worse. We were collected at 6.30 am and after a while I realised that the driver was falling asleep at the wheel as we weaved from lane to lane at speed ... horrifying as we made noises, opened windows etc to try to keep him awake. He spoke absolutely no English.

I wrote to the Managing Director of Holidaysbooked on our return but received no reply. I also wrote to Roy Blanga, the MD of Groupon UK who introduced us to holidaysbooked and have now received a personal assurance from him that the holiday company have changed the agent handling transfers from Milan Bergamo and his letter is dated September 12, 2012. If anyone decides to ignore the warnings and use this travel company now and find they have a similar experience, I'm sure Mr Blanga would like to hear about it!

Stayed here for a week in August. Yes the hotel is a little dated but it is very clean and very tidy. The room lacked facilities like a fridge, kettle and full length mirror but the beds were fine and plenty of storage. The tv even had BBC1 and 2! One of the waitresses was very friendly and helpful but the other one hardly said a word or smiled. The food was a little strange and portions weren't huge but we never left the restaurant hungry. They could have made more effort with the evening meals, particularily the soup. The meals were an odd combination. The rest of the staff were very good and happy to help with any questions. The pool area is nice and clean with plenty of sunloungers for everyone. At times we were the only ones using the area. There is a little bit of traffic noise as the hotel is on a fairly busy road. The free shuttle bus to Garda is handy, if a bit unreliable at times, as the hotel is about a 15min walk from the lake which wasnt a problem for us.Its a lovely area and well worth a visit. Hotel Eden doesnt pretend to be anything it isnt and it provides a good base to enjoy being a tourist. Value for money if you dont mind basic.

I stayed here with my girlfriend at the beginning of August. It was great. We were a little worried about the food and the beds after a few bad reviews but I had no need to worry.

The food was basic but tasty and you could fill up on lots of free salad before the first course. It was fun actually because at times you were never sure what you were going to get. One night Pie Tart was on the menu, truly a mystery what would be contained within, I won’t spoil the surprise. The people complaining must have paid a lot more than us or are used to larger hotels on the coast where managers can afford to buy lots of food on mass for lots of people.

The beds? I have no idea what some people are used to sleeping on (maybe fluffy clouds) but I found the bed really comfy and all 6ft 4 of me could actually fit in it, which is a rarity in UK hotels.

The walk into town would probably challenge the infirm but anyone with a bit of stamina in them won't even notice. There is a little shop on the way up and down where you can get refreshment for the short walk.

Italy is remarkable. So much history and the scenery is very humbling. We did so much while we were there but there is so much more to do. Will defo be back! For the price this hotel is a real winner.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from an 11 day stay at Hotel Eden and thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

Although the hotel is clearly not a five star and was looking a little tired in terms of decor the rooms were spotless and cleaned every day with new towels. The staff were very friendly and whilst we were there there was a festival on in Garda which the hotel celebrated by inviting us to drinks and nibbles on the terrace which was a great touch.

It would be fair to say that there wasn't great variety in terms of food for breakfast but there were always three menu options for each course of the evening meal which we always enjoyed. A la carte it is not but then we didnt expect this at a three star hotel.

Garda centre itself is a 15 minute walk away and the walk back after a few glasses of wine was really not as bad as some reviews have indicated. I would describe it as a slight incline not a steep hill! Garda really is a beautiful place and there were plenty of trips available. We hired bikes from the rental place at the bus stop and cycled top Lazise along the lake front which was great.

Overall we had a lovely holiday at Hotel Eden, great value and a good base from which to explore lake Garda.

I stayed here in mid-August with my wife and 16 yr old son. While Lake Garda is a breath-taking place to visit, I cannot say the same for Hotel Eden.

The room itself was too small for 3 people but it was clean. Towels were changed daily but the beds were very uncomfortable. The swimming pool was also clean.

The food in the hotel was poor. Evening meals were ready meals of a very poor standard and small portions e.g. 8 chips with an evening meal. 2 dessert choices were available, again very small portions. The continental breakfast was basic, however, the fruit available was tinned with apples & oranges being the only fresh fruit on offer. Variety was poor.

Hotel staff were ok, with one waitress being very pleasant and friendly.

Would definitely not stay here again and would not advise anyone to eat here.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from our holiday in Garda where we stayed at Hotel Eden. We had a lovely week there. The food was good, the rooms very clean and the pool was quiet and relaxing. It is a 15 minute walk to Garda town centre. We enjoyed the short walk in and out of the town as it meant we could eat more of the delicious food guilt-free!

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our lack of transfers 'provided' (or not as the case was) by Holidays Booked was so shocking and such a worry that it could have ruined our holiday. However, the staff at Eden were very helpful and made sure that we did not miss our flight home. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

we stayed in hotel Eden using a groupon deal in july, The hotel is just 20 mins away from the most beautiful lake you have ever seen. It is the most basic hotel we have ever stayed in and it is only worth one star. There was no proper welcome and the lady who we met couldnt speak english. The room was very tiny, but the bed was comfy and ours was a double! but we were next to the door that leads out to the pool area which was a bit noisy, the pool area could have done with a tidy and new furniture, it was a bit mix and match. Now the food well what can i say, if you like ding ding meals then you are fine. We went half board and we only ate the first nite, so really that says it all. You have to order your evening meal at breakfast, but why when they are preparing the food well in advance and its from the microwave. The cakes from the evening meal are then used in the morning for breakfast, and yes the coffee is awful and your spoon can stand up, if you want a hotel just for room only and basic yes this hotel is ok. The good thing is by not eating in, we ate down at the lake and what a great atmosphere it is, plenty of restaurants, and great value. we did find a little gem the last day and that was the hotel across the road from hotel eden, the food is great and its only a two star. Please make use of the tiny villages next to garda well worth seeing, lovely walks and pop on the ferry its well worth it. Lake garda is beautiful, just not the hotel, basic basic basic. stay away from holidays booked.com using groupon, heard of two many bad reports, we were lucky the taxi was only late a hour, but heard of too many bad things. I hope this is useful for you allxx
