“great family holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We stayed in an apartment for a week at the end of August with our 13 yr old son and it was an excellent choice. We were able to relax and enjoy the wonderful views, while our son joined in with football, table tennis and water sports and soon made friends.
Our apartment was comfortable, the air conditioning very welcome in the August heat.We upgraded to half board and this was a good decision due to the distance of the hotel from the centre of Garda, although the hotel does provide a shuttle bus. Thanks to Dominica, the Crystal rep for advice and the lifts! We did a few trips and really enjoyed them.Venice amazing and a lake tour with some breathtaking views.
We were very happy with the choice and quality of food in the restaurant. There is outside seating with amazing views. We were disappointed to be seated inside for 3 consecutive evenings when the same people were given the outside seating but thanks to the head waiter who sorted this out for us.
local Poiano wine is excellent and very reasonably priced in the hotel shop.
Would return to the Poiano,it had so much to offer us as a family and we would love to see more of this beautiful area.

We found all the staff to be very helpful.

“A pleasant hotel near Lake Garda”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Had a pleasant 7 day half board stay at this hotel with my wife. The resport town of Garda was exceptionally pleasant and clean. The hotel location, being outside the main town, relied on a minibus shuttle service which sometimes fell short. The bus could only fit 8 guests and on occasions there was insufficient space, resultng in a 25 minute walk or 30 minute wait. The shuttle service did not operate between 1pm & 5pm which in our view was insufficient. The walk into town was neither pleasant or picturesque. The service in the restaurant verged on chaotic at times but did pick up during the week. We witnessed and experienced significant delays in being served both food & wine. Various representations had evidently been made by other guests but an area that was sadly lacking. My comments do not relate to all restaurant staff as a couple of them (including the head waiter)were particularly attentive and courteous. Food varied between very good & ok. Breakfast was fine but please change the watered 'fruit juice'. Staff elsewhere were always polite & courteous, particularly reception. The swimming complex and hotel grounds were good and well maintained. Cleanliness was a real plus factor, both rooms and hotel complex. The cleaning staff should be congratulated. The rooms were adequate but with hindsight, an upgade to a lake view would have been better. The lake view was actually fine. We actually overlooked a rear car park & driveway. I would also agree with another tripadvisors comments re the apparant priority given to significant numbers of coach parties. Overall a good week but some areas that need to be addressed.

“Did the job but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

We booked this hotel as we got quite a good deal for a 3 day get away. The hotel is set in a beautiful location on the side of the italian hills overlooking lake Garda. We couldn't quite understand why other reviewers had written that the hotel didn't offer lake views as we thought the views were actually rather stunning.

On arrival we were allocated a room with 2 single beds when we'd booked a double but this was rectified immediately. The room was basic but comfortable with a good sized bathroom. We had a large balcony but this overlooked the car park and appartments opposite, a room with a view of the lake would have been preferable so ensure you request one upon booking to avoid being disappointed. The rooms were "cleaned" daily but the bed sheets and linen were not changed once. Not really what you'd expect from a 4* hotel.

If you want to eat in the hotel restaurant for dinner, ensure you pre-book as we were turned away on the first night due to a conference being held at the hotel (this actually turned out to be a blessing). The breakfast at the hotel is good with a variety of cereals and pastries, fruit and a hot option of eggs and bacon, The hotel has a lovely outside terrace from which you can watch the sun setting over the lake of an evening with a cold beer in hand. The hotel advertises a lovely little piano bar and terrace which has views over the lake, however we were disappointed to find that this was not open to guests.

The hotel is about a half an hour walk into town. The hotel does offer a shuttle down but the walk is quite pleasant. We had booked a hire car with Hertz which we'd picked up from the airport on arrival, completely hassle free and was actually a godsend. Parking is easy in town so for those not fancying the half hour walk into town, I'd suggest a hire car is a good idea. It cost us £56 for 3 days hire. The hotel has ample parking spaces free of charge too.

Due to the fact that Lake Garda and Garda town were so beautiful, we literally only slept and ate breakfast in the hotel and that's about it, so for us it served its purpose. However, I would question the 4* rating.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view!!!

“A lovely location for your italian vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

I had a very good experience at this hotel, the staff is friendly and competent. Especially the head receptionist. Very professional. It is located on the hill out of the town of Garda, but there are shuttles that bring you to the center. It is a rather large complex, ask for a room near the lobby if you have mobility problems.
