This hotel has the basics, but that's it: clean linens and clean rooms. It also has a fabulous location. If that's what you seek, stay here. But if you're interested in learning more about the charms of Ferrara, the best local restaurants, and where to find the best art and hidden treasures, go somewhere where the owners will engage you in conversation, where the breakfast is freshly cooked and homemade, and where you're treated as more than a credit card. Definitely my worst hotel, ever, anywhere.

Ferrara is a beautiful, beautiful city and the main advantage of this hotel is its central location right on the square.

We had a room that looks onto the square directly and loved it. The room itself is nothing special. It is modern in its decor and very spacious and its not very atmospheric. But there are huge windows that look onto the square and that open completely so the vantage point can't be beat.

There were minor little irritating things with this hotel. No bathroom soap. hard to get soap. There was a little kitchenette, but no dish soap to clean dishes, which were not left clean. The hallways are kind of cool with hip artwork and wavy lines, but they had a strange odor the entire time we were there...

Still, we thought this was a good value for the money (Euros 100/night) and a convenient location. We loved this city and would recommend it to anyone.

“Fun, contemporary, and spacious”

While we enjoyed the many historic properties we stayed at during our recent trip to nothern Italy, this aggressively contemporary hotel was a pleasant break. Pluses included a spacious two-room suite (ideal if you're traveling wtih children), Jacuzzi water jets in the shower, kitchen facilities, and a superb location in the heart of the old part of the city with great views of the cathedral. The undulating hallways displaying contemporary artwork made an even bigger interior design statement than the furnishings of the room. (The pictures at the web site really capture the place.) Breakfast benefited both from a small terrace overlooking the cathedral square and a solid array of food options. If you are driving, as we were, an inexpensive and large public parking lot is a very few blocks away and you can drop your bags off at the hotel if you llike. I'll certainly stay there again if I'm lucky enough to get back to Ferrara (the aptly named city of bikes).

“As much charm as the McDonald's below it”

I had great hopes for the Suite Duomo after reading the reviews. When we arrived, the staff was curt and unhelpful, both in showing us to the room and in giving us recommendations for dinner that night. The hallway had an exotic smell that came from either mildew or a very strange cleanser. The room was large enough, with a huge bathroom by Italian standards, but there was a lot of noise from the piazza below, and we couldn't shut the window because we couldn't get the air conditioning to work. A portable fridge on the dresser had a fan that made so much noise it had to be unplugged. The next morning, the breakfast 'pastries' tasted like cardboard, and the eggs looked as if they had been out since the day before. And below it sits a McDonald's restaurant. This B&B had as much charm as its neighbor and the same level of quality. If you go to Italy to eat at a McDonald's, go to the Suite Duomo to get old world charm. Ferrara is a gorgeous city, and you owe it yourself to stay in a place that matches the city.

The Hotel Suite Duomo is a charming place to stay. The personnel is extremely helpful and friendly. Everyone was courteous. The apartment was modern and clean with many amenities. The apartment had a living area, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom.
The location could not have been better. You are in the heart of the city. There are many places to dine within walking distance. Since it is a pedestrian only part of the city, it is pleasantly quiet. No annoying traffic noise like vespas. Parking is inexpensive and about 3 walking blocks away. Breakfast is served on the roof top terrace, which is very pleasant.
I would recomment The Hotel Suite Duomo and would not hesitate to stay again.
