“Simply: the best B&B we've been so far...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

...even for the most demanding people; neither luxury nor unnecessary pleasantries, warm welcome and love for this job.
Thanks to Tripadvisor, we found out this B&B. On the way back from Austria to Rome, we decided to make a stop in Ferrara. The B&B is located just out Ferrara, in a very typical local countryside.
From the very first time, we found ourselves (My wife and I) at home. Even better! Roberta and Marco (the owners) are definetely fanatics of keeping the House in order and clean. Roberta is fond of ancient flavors and is a Master of cooking cakes from the tradition. Roberto takes care of the house and selects restaurants and places to give the right advice to avoid disappointments. They love this job and transfer to their guests this attitude.
In a few words: this part of Italy is wonderful, but it's worth coming here for being their guests.
Anna e Angelo.

Roberta and Marco offer a totally exceptional B+B! What a welcome, what a lovely room. With all help in enjoying a visit to Ferrara, this was lovely stay, sadly for just one night. Breakfast is an experience in itself, with all home grown and homemade produce, it's hard to stop eating, but we had to be on our way.

I could frankly say that this was our best stay in Italy. We arrived at Ai Frutti Di Una Volta quite by accident. We ahd reservations at some other place and they were cancelled in the last moment, so Roberta and Marco's place was offered to us durring our travel. And it turn to be just our best luck. The place is amazing, so cosy and special that it will remain forever in my heart. The rooms are wonderful, equipped with everything you'll ever need and even has homemade soup in the bathroom. Roberta and Marco came to have a welcome glass of wine with us and even brough a homemade treads. They arrange reservation with a local restaurant - charming place locals go to eat, gave us detail advices for our sightseing in Ferrara and and made us the most delicious breakfast ever - home made bread, sweets, yogurt, and so on. I simply fall in love in this place. My advice is - if you ever pass near Farrara - go and stay with Roberta and Marco. And to them again and again - Grazie mile!

Ai frutti di una volta - is a very charming B & B right outside the town of Ferrara. The couple who runs it are very sweet, helpful and will do anything to make your stay a wonderful experience.
The house is beautifully restored and the rooms are charming and cosy. Breakfast is delicious and homemade! Go here - you will not regret it!

This one was a very pleasant surprise. First we would just stay an overnight in Ferrara to rest to the trip do Venezia (we were driving from Firenze), but since my first contact via email Roberta was all the time trying to assist me. It ended up that I had to ask two nights prior to our arrival for a one more night there due to my mishandling of our agenda, and it was no problem to Roberta and Marco who promptly said we could stay there. So, arriving at the B&B we were warmly welcomed by Roberta and one of their cutty cats (don’t worry they stay only outside). Now, picture someone that is receptive, friendly and sweet altogether, well, it comes close to Roberta. She could not have made us more willing to stay in Ferrara and in the B&B It self. She and her husband Marco arranged us the best room since we were on honeymoon, and it was just cosy and perfect.

They even had a car that can take you to town and pick you up, for free! And also you can take the bikes and ride to the city and the locals do, therefore although the house is located out of the city, it’s definitely no big deal.

The breakfast needs a dedicated paragraph for it, since its all made of organic food, cereals that you can crush and eat fresh made, delicious cheeses and hams, cakes home-baked by Roberta herself…

We just loved it, we couldn’t have been more surprised and happy about our trip in Italy. (the price is also very good, around 80euros per night).

In the end we were hoping we could have stayed longer there with them.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the 1st room, close to the stairs. it is large, and the window gives a view of the...

Quite frankly I doubt you will ever find a more hospitable couple who will ensure your time with them is as nice as it possible could be. My son and I visited only for one night but the next morning coincided with my 50th birthday and they had even gone to the trouble of preparing a birthday breakfast. If you want to go into Ferrara in the evening Marco will take you and bring you back. They will give you advice on where to go and what to see. It is a lovely place to stay but as I said in the title it is the host's that make it what it is.
Thank you to you both!

Room Tip: I am not aware of the rooms being different, ours was very nice

Family with 2.5 yr old kid spent a wonderful 3 days at "Ai frutti di una volta". We were welcomed by very hospitable couple, enjoyed delicious breakfasts and comfortable room.

We spent 10 days in Italy, traveling by car to different locations in Emilia-Romagna area and this B&B beats all hotels we stayed in on other days.

I would highly recommend this place as both: base for sightseeing trips to nearby Ferrara (and if you have car, also a little bit further: Padova and Bologna) and great place for chilling out by the pool (absolutely wonderful during hot days). Kids will have fun observing numerous animals.

Dear Guest,
Let us thank you for your beautiful words.
We are so happy you enjoyed the time spent at Ai frutti di una volta, and in particular, our garden, and little pool.
We think we are lucky to live in the green, just a few minutes far from the city center, thanks to Roberta's grandmother.
We really hope to see you soon. With love, Roberta, Marco, the cats(Mr. Bean, Valentino, Omero, Franck, Fog) ann chickens(Arquà, Petrarca, Grau, Livia).
