In town for the Buskers' Festival, we booked for Sunday lunch, specifically in the small 3-table room to the left upon entering. It was nicely air-conditioned to counter the rising temperature outside.
My dining companion had a Buskers' menu starter of fried zucchini flowers stuffed with mozzerella which we shared and were rather delicious, if, understandably, filling.
I was very tempted by the stuffed pastas on offer, cappeletti, cappelacci, tortellini etc but decided to have a change.
We both chose a primo of pumpkin gnocchi in a melted two cheese sauce.(I forget the cheeses) . While the gnocchi were a delicate flavour, they were 'raised' out of potential blandness by the cheeses, with grated parmesan offered as a further dimension of flavour to sprinkle on top.
My companion didn't have space for a secondo and so alone I tackled 5 grilled lamb chops “scottadito” (for the fingers) on a bed of rucola. This was complemented by the grilled vegetables contorno (radichio, melanzane, zucchini). All very well cooked and delicious.
To complement all of the above we had a half bottle of Sangiovese, two bottles of water, 2 coffees.
Unfortunately, I couldn't manage a dessert on this visit; from previous visits I know they are as wonderful as the mains,
The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is homely and unpretentious.
Total : 59euro. Great value for money. We'll return.
