My third stay at the Castello and I like it more each time.
This renovated mini castle represents all things good about Italy. Food, wine, design, style and atmosphere. And now they are properly catering for the business customer with broadband internet access to check your email accounts back home.
It is slightly isolated from the historic town of Fano, being several miles from the beach, but its location on the Montegiove hill gives sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Some may prefer this, especially during the summer months when the Fano beach front becomes intolerably crowded.
The restaurant is small, some may say intimate and the number of guests seems low, some may say it is undiscovered.
English is well understood by the staff. Rooms have individual thermostats that actually work. This is an ideal hotel for business or pleasure.
I usually like to criticize to give a balanced view, but that is hard to do at the Montegiove. There are not enough 'flat' surfaces in the bathroom, a concept which many hoteliers seem to miss, that you need somewhere flat to stand your toiletries. The showers are built for the European physique, so if you are a large American like myself, it is a tight fit. How's that for a minor complaint!
Rooms are large, prices good. Don't leave without trying the cheese, matured in caves in the region. Try this with a bottle of the local red wine and you have a perfect start to their dining experience
