“beautifull!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2010

we stayed there for 5 nights with two young children at the beggining of our travel over the Sicily. the room was big, comfortable, very nice furniture...we loved it. It had all what we needed for this kind of travel. The owner is very nice.
the location is great, from Erice you are close to all great locations-Segesta, Scopello, trapani, Zingaro, San vito lo Capo.....and the views are beautifull!

Because we holidayed in March, Erice was not over crowded with coach tours so we were able to enjoy the tranquility of the old town. Santa Teresa is a beautiful compact apartment and Sergio is a very helpful host who speaks excellent English. There are plentiful restaurants and bars within 5 minutes walk of the apartment and an assortment of craft shops. The views from Erice are spectacular and it is probably the most beautiful town at the eastern end of Sicily. Well worth visiting.

Erice is a beautiful, medieval walled city complete with cobblestone streets and narrow alleys. It is located high up on a hill which overlooks the city of Trapani.

Despite its age, it is a very clean, charming city well worth a visit. We stayed at Santa Teresa apartment, which is actually a duplex containing 2 separate apartments that share an outside terrace. The building is the former workshop of the town's blacksmith, and was restored by the family who now owns the building.

We were met on site by the friendly owner, Sergio, who gave us a tour and brief history of the building. As there were only two of us in our party, we stayed in the smaller of the 2 apartments, though the place could actually have slept 4 people comfortably. It is an old stone building, carefully restored and featuring a high vaulted ceiling that gives the place an airy, light feel despite all the stone.

The bedroom is a loft located above the kitchen area. Because of the vaulted ceiling, it does not feel cramped as most loft rooms often do, and instead looks and feels like a proper bedroom. The craftsmanship involved in the apartment's restoration are evident even in utilitarian details such as the winding stairs and iron banister that lead to the loft bedroom.

The kitchen is well-equipped with a gas range and convection oven, and American-sized refrigerator/freezer, as well as cooking utensils, dishes, and cutlery. Though there is only one grocer in Erice, there is a larger supermarket in nearby Val d'Erice, easily accessed by car. There is a wonderful fish market by the pier in Trapani, also easily accessed by car. This fish market is well worth visiting, as the seafood is caught daily, and the merchants are engaging and entertaining, jockeying for the customers' attention. For nights when cooking seems like too much work, there are pizzerias in Erice and Val d'Erice that offer take-away, and the convection oven reheats pizza quickly and efficiently!

The hot water tank is large, so we did not experience any problems such as running out of hot water.

In all, we found the Santa Teresa apartment very clean, comfortable, convenient, and utterly charming. The restoration of the building is quite impressive, and small details such as grinding stones and blacksmith's tools recovered from the old building serve not only as unique decorations but also as visual reminders of its considerable history.

Sergio, the owner, was very friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely interested in helping us to make the most of our visit. Though we did not require any assistance after our arrival, he gave us his contact numbers and assured us that we could reach him if we had any questions or problems.

We enjoyed our stay very much, and would not hesitate to stay here again.
