“English School Party”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

Stayed as part of a school trip, mixed party, children (10-16) staff and parents. The staff were generally faultless, friendly and polite albeit a little reserved. Very little English if any spoken by staff, only allowed to use advertised swimming pool twice under sufferance, food was tasty but basic and appeared different to that given to the Italian guests. Twice asked to stop talking and eat up so they could talk about some food demonstration to Italian guests. Rooms very spartan and basic and oh so small no drawers and a very flimsy flat pack wardrobe struggled to find space to get dressed. Electric ? switches in the shower!! Rooms far to hot and dry and could not turn down had to leave window open all the time, struggled to sleep due to outside street noise. Not "foreign" child friendly but suspect was cheap and as we were there for skiing did the job.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back of the hotel!

A quick note on the Piadineria da Spicchio, a part of Hotel Annamaria open also for external guests. Let's pass on the terrible taste of the forniture, paintings etc, we arrived at 13.10 for two piadine with cheese and ham. At 13.55 I asked to the waiter if some accident was happened in the kitchen, or what. Together with me, was almost the whole room was complaining. The piadina arrived at 14.05. In my humble opinion, 1 hour to warm up a slice of pasta is a little bit excessive.
BTW, nothing of unforgettable. Can't suggest the place, even if you have a lot of time to waste

It gives fantastic panoramic views while dining and relaxing. The food was excellent and the rooms were better. Only a short walk from the slopes it offers little hassle and after the day is finished you can look forward to a swim, a drink from the bar or just sitting outside on the balcony looking at the awe inspiring views of the Italian alps.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

Stayed in the Annamarie 24 March 2012. The hotel is very spacious has a large dinning room and a comfortable bar/lounge area. The hotel is in a very good location for the main Folgarida gondola - just 2 mins walk uphill and is in the centre of the shops and bars (not that there are that many). The rooms are of a good size and the beds very comfortable. The views are not very good - there are none if you are at the back of the hotel - but you are not in the rooms much anyway. The one drawback is the size of the bathrooms (particularly the shower) practice in an old telephone box before you go!

What makes this good hotel out of the ordinary is the food they serve. The chef Guieseppe Ceci has appeared in the Italian version of Master Chef, and this shows in the food he presents.
It may not suit every palate - if you like lots on a plate and are not bothered about how it looks - you may not be so impressed. In my opinion the food was outstanding - very italian and beautifully presented and very tasty. Salad bar with good variety and always 2/3 hot dishes followed by a pasta or risotto course followed by a main and followed by deserts to die for.

The breakfast buffet also has a good selection with either scrambled or boiled eggs. The restaurant staff are very friendly and will do anything to help. You choose your meal for the previous day at dinner but if there is nothing you like the chef will provide an alternative.

Prices at the bar were average for the area and the house wine was E7.50 a bottle.

The hotel has a good sized pool with some sort of aqua massage (didn't use it so can't be specific) but you do need a cap - if you haven't got one (and who has) they sell them for E3.

There is a supermarket and a few souvenier shops in the area and a few cafe/restaurants and a patisserie. Bars to try are Buca which gets the sun from around 1pm and Roby which does not get the sun until after 5 pm (probably not at all earlier in the season). Apre ski tends to happen in the bars by the ski school at the top of the cable.

The area ski pass links with Madonna di Campiglio but the link takes a long time (more than an hour). The pistes in the Folgarida/Marilleva area are well prepared and tended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel - the rooms at the rear back on to thick trees so no view

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

We stayed here as a group of 14 friends in January 2012 for a ski-ing trip. It was an excellent hotel and all the staff went out of their way to make the stay was as great as possible. We were all inclusive and the food was absolutely incredible (and there was no shortage-the diet starts today!). Most evenings there was a choice of 4 different things for each course, in the evening there was a vast salad bar as well as the three course meal. Then on two nights there was a set menu- the chef's chance to show off. The meal was restaurant quality (and I mean £15-20 per course resaturant). Breakfast had a great selection (cheese/ham continental stuff as well as fruit, cereal and pastries). They accomodated our every need - looking after the vegetarian in our party and providing us with a packed lunch when we left at 4am (apologising the bread wouldn't have been freshly baked that morning!)

The room had a balcony with a great view of the mountains a fantastic hot shower (sadly no bath) and comfy beds. We were a short walk from the gondola and there was space to store ski gear. The staff took good care of our friend who hurt themselves checking he was OK. The bar staff were great fun and the bar was good value.

The resort had a great selection of slopes and had everything we needed. All in all a great value hotel-I'd recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front for the view
