We visited this hotel in October with a National Holidays Tour. The hotel was clean, bright and cheerful, The staff were very courteous and polite and the food was excellent, very good value, with lots of choice! The bar area was large enough, although at times it was busy! The free night entertainer/musician was funny and excellent and we enjoyed our stay in Diano Marina .The hotel was close to the lovely beach (but a little close to the Railway Station) and shopping was easy and conveniently near.I would return to this Hotel and its courteous staff again! Robert and Judith

Room Tip: Try to face away from the railway station!,

We stayed at this hotel with National Holidays, the rooms were very basic but spotlessly clean. The meals were excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach was very near to hotel and had everything

I was part of a coach trip with Caledonian Travel. As this hotel was overbooked for guests we were booked into hotel next door but had meals and drinks in hotel Olympic. I have read the review from person on the same tour in July and would like to update on service. I cannot comment on the rooms but there were a few complaints from other guests i.e. smell from toilet facilities when others flushing toilet, cramped shower space with little room for maneuver. I can however comment on dining service. My first impression on the day of arrival was one of amazement. I immediately noticed that the Italian guests were always served first before the English guests. We were served sliced pork whilst the Italian guests enjoyed chicken breast. However after this we were served similar meals although the Italian guests were served first and the waiting staff were always more friendly towards them. All Italian guests had a bottle of water and wine on their tables whereas English guests had to request water. They provided us with paper napkins which I presume was because of the previous party's complaints to Caledonian Travel. Breakfast was good with provision of cereal, juices, toast, cold meat, cheese, croissants (very tasty), jams, butters and sometimes other types of bun. However you had to queue for tea and coffee from a machine served by waiter and this took quite some time and was always lukewarm. The dinner on the other hand was meager with little choice for main. On one occasion we were served 2 thin slices of processed roast pork and green beans (with no potatoes). It was certainly not the great Italian cuisine that they advertise. On two occasions the staff were extremely friendly and offered second helpings. On these occasions I noted two ladies who appeared to be inspectors talking to the Italian guests at their tables accompanied by their guide so I guess they were ensuring the Italian guests were being given good service and this was to impress them. We had no-one to represent us. On occasion the staff could be bordering on the rude. The lady sitting with us asked for a plain omelette instead of mushroom one evening and the waiter hissed at her saying that it was mushroom and looked very disgruntled and served her the mushroom omelette. We were allowed to take our free drinks to the table. I certainly would not rate their evening meal as 3 stars. The free drinks bar was quite nice although quite small. The regular barman was friendly although when annoyed with someone would bang things around which I found quite funny but other took offence. He would sometimes come to the table and replenish our drinks rather generously at times. We were told on one occasion after dinner that there was entertainment. This turned out to be a night organized for the Italian guests who all appeared wearing nightwear and the small verandah was set up for them. The English guests who attended had to sit in the dining area. It seemed that we were invited as an afterthought. There was no other entertainment throughout the rest of the stay. I would not rate my experience here very highly and think that Caledonian Travel should be ensuring that their customers are treated fairly on these trips as treatment was rather discriminatory. The rooftop solarium was rather dingy with hard plastic sunbeds, and rather worn looking plastic table and chairs. Not very inviting with no facilities for drinks etc. On the last evening it was noted that all the Italian guests each had homemade pots of jam on their table. Don't know if this was provided by the hotel or their own company but made me feel inferior. I would not consider returning to this hotel and was glad that I had been booked into the adjacent hotel for bed accommodation which I found to be a pleasant experience.

The hotel looks good from the outside on arrival which is always a plus and the bar area not a bad
Size there is also an outside seating area. The room we occupied was at the front of the hotel
Was not the best placed right opposite the railway station you could hear the station master
Announcing train times every 20 minutes or so from about 6am,not a problem if you are an
Early riser. The breakfast was rather basic only one choice of sliced meat / cheese slices
Would have liked a bigger choice also the bread rolls were in short supply. The room was
On the small size but did have plenty hanging spaces & drawers .

CALEDONIAN EUROPEAN TRIP TO OLYMPIC HOTEL DIANO MARINA
the rating is worse than terrible!
This was a holiday from hell, the bus that we had there was no air conditioning it was stifling,it was an old bus getting on and off the bus was hell the bus driver did not help and it was only on last day that he mentioned that he could lower the step!when we got there he said that he would put the bus in to be fixed but it was still the same!this was the reason i did not go on any excursions and when we got to the hotel i had to send for the doctor, the manager of the hotel would not let the bus stop outside the hotel had to park a lot further down the street and carry our own bags to the hotel, our room smelt like a sewer, another passenger on the trip had a leak they had mats down which they thought was acceptable would not give them another room and only got a plumber after 2 days because of the passengers threatening to take the matter further!this trip was not the original trip that had been cancelled we were told it would be a similar hotel no way was this the case this hotel did not have a swimming pool i would not have booked had this been the case, caledonian keep doing this cancelling trips!the food was either burnt or raw and was repetitive it was rubbish and we noticed that other guests not on our coach party were getting better food! outrageous!we definately were getting treated like 2nd class citizens it seemed as if there was no use complaining the staff were terrible, and there was no rep to complain to! at the table you had to put your napkin in an envelope to use for the rest of your stay truly unbelievable! supposed to get entertainment at the hotel there was none except when we complained and then we got a singer for 30mins unbelievable, the roof terrace was a joke no umbrellas to sit under or toilets or drinks avaiable so it was unusable, we ended up staying out of the hotel as much as possible and eating out, i went on this holiday thinking i would be relaxing by the pool and doing very little as i am disabled but this was not the case i had the holiday from hell! Caledonian should not be sending people on this trip if they are elderly or disabled!
I phoned up Caledonian on the saturday when i got back, the person was very cheeky and unhelpful and said i would need to phone back on the monday as there is only one person dealing with complaints!! every person on our coach party said they were going to complain, it was appalling, the only good thing i would say was that the area was gorgeous and the weather and neither of these had anything to do with Caledonian!!! I am wanting a full refund from Caledonian.
