“'skiing the dolomites'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

my daughter and I were on a recent ski trip to Cortina and after reading many T.A reviews chose the Hotel Columbia,,, we were Not disappointed,,, Monica and Marco, the sister brother owners took great care of us,,, 'Prince' Albert, the night host was equally gracious,, a few things,,, we stayed in a junior suite with a shower,,[room 59]... the room was immaculate and comfortable,,, wifi is included in the rate,,, parking is free.... we chose this hotel because of the location from the tofana gondola,, probably a 5 minute walk in ski boots,,, otherwise it's a bus ride to the the other less popular lifts... the hotel 'is' somewhat away from Cortina, probably a 10 minute walk, but we like quite and after dinner in Cortina the walk feels great... A large benefit is a 10% discount offered on 5 of the Cortina restaurants within walking distance,,, one of which is the Beppe Sello, right down the street and in our opinion one of the best in Cortina,,,, all in all, It was a great stay,,, s

This is a gem. I stayed four nights here and wish it could have been longer.

Very welcoming, well decorated place, with attentive staff. Good English spoken. Rooms are splendid, mostly wood panelled, with modern facilities and masses of storage space. I had a room with a view out over Cortina itself, and across to the Cristallo and Sorapis mountains, which were a source of joy and photographs every sunset.

Very ample parking outside the hotel. It is about a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the centre of Cortina. Having been to the town many times before, I knew a few shortcuts, but the route is easy, even if the first part involves walking down a busy road.

The hotel breakfast was excellent, with a big choice on offer. I found the coffee very strong indeed, and have seen other reviews mentioning this!

Without reservation, I'd say this was my favourite hotel in Cortina at the moment. I plan to return.

Room Tip: Go for the upgrade if offered!

My wife and I really like this hotel. Large, clean room, decent price, good breakfast and easy walking distance to Cortina's restaurants and shops.
Definitely recommended.

Stayed here for two nights in a second floor room over-looking the front car park.

The hotel and room is quality and spacious. I was well received and provided with excellent advice about where to eat and attractions to visit.

It is cheaper than more centrally located hotels which means you have a 10 min walk to town (no footpaths) and you can get some road noise.

Breakfast was very good - but remember you have to boil your own eggs.....

Free WIFI available throughout.

I will be back.

We booked this hotel because of good reviews. Sometimes they are wrong. We arrived at the hotel, Nobody to help with the luggage, the gentleman at the desk "kindly" opened the door and watched me push the luggage in. We got a nice new room on the ground floor, looked out the window at the beautiful scenery and what did we see but washing on a line.instead of beautiful scenery we saw the hotels washing. Never seen that before.
They only took off the line at 5.00pm.
We wanted to go out for dinner but had to walk along the road which is
very busy and has no side walks.
Very dangerous.
So this hotel was a disappointment for us.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

We stayed for 4 nights in late July. The hotel is not in the town center but 10 minutes away on foot on the other side of the stream. It is an easy if scary walk to town as there is no sidewalk/pavement on Ronco St. The room where we stayed, and the whole first floor, maybe other floors too, was entirely redone with traditional wood paneling throughout, very well done - brand new bathroom - huge wardrobes - quality curtains - small balcony. Very comfortable and pleasant.

The hotel is efficiently run, with wi-fi and copious, if not very varied, breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a small wall safe in the room, nice touch.

All in all we were pleasantly surprised for an Italian 3 star, and would come again. Only issue was the choice of TV channels, more than 40 in all of which 37 Italian, CNN, France 24, RTL and one Austrian - a little basic for international visitors.

Room Tip: When driving in or out, take the detour via Ronco (not main road) and enjoy the side road and views

People who find this "the best hotel they ever stayed in" ; I don't think they ever stayed in another hotel. The hotel is VERY old-fashioned, the furniture is from a couple of century's back, Rooms are extremely small. Breakfast was OK. Some staff was OK, others were extremely UNfriendly, especially the man with glasses.
