“Superb Hotel for the Skiing Enthusiast in a Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2011

I have been staying at the Hotel Villa Argentina for the past eight years. The hotel enjoys a most spectacular location offering wonderful views of the Dolomites on all sides. It is particularly suitable for families who return year after year. But the main feature is its skier friendly location with direct access to the slopes of the incredibly scenic Pocol area. There is a convenient ski hire shop on site although there are no other shops nearby so to do any shopping you have to go into Cortina d’Ampezzo which is about six kilometres down the road. A bus service links the hotel to both Cortina and other ski areas and stops outside the hotel. The Cinque Torre and Falzarego areas are well worth a visit and can be easily reached by either bus or car. For the motorist there is a free car park at the side and rear of the hotel.
The hotel staff is very friendly, efficient and helpful and Venicio, the new concierge, is always there to welcome you back to the hotel after a hard days skiing. Wi-Fi internet is available for a modest three Euros a week and seems to work in most rooms or in the public areas. Bedrooms are fairly simple and a tad dated but are clean and comfortable. Most have balconies with superb views of the mountains. The bathrooms have either baths or showers and although small are spotlessly clean and work efficiently. Towels are changed daily. The restaurant and lounges are spacious and comfortable although the food for me is occasionally a little uninspiring.
Overall the Argentina is ideal for the skiing enthusiast and families alike and gives unbeatable value for money in this beautiful skiing area.

We had a terrific stay at this 3 star hotel located right on the snow with fantastic views from every window. The best of all was the ski in and ski out location. Nicoletta the owner of the hotel went out of her way to make our family holiday enjoyable and memorable. First night we arrived was after 10.30pm and kitchen was closed and Nicoletta arranged antipasto platters with a selection of fantastic cheese and prosciutto. It was simply delicious. Our rooms were spacious with superb views. I really enjoyed the deep bath tub in the room especially after a hard day of skiing. The hotel staff was always friendly and ready to help. I remember wanting to catch a bus into Cortina and staff were happy to drive us in town for a small fee. They were happy to arrange a separate dinner menu for our children. Having the ski shop located downstairs and ski slope outside your door made life easy and best of all was the ski in and ski out location. I definitely will be back again.

Dear guest thank's very much for this kind review,we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay in Pocol at Hotel Villa Argentina,we are a family Hotel and we are happy that your family felt the atmposhere in our house. For us is so important that you like the position of the Hotel right in the middle of the ski slopes of Tofana and Lagazuoi 5 torri Area, this means that you can forget car,bus or whatever to go to ski, just walk 20 meters and here is the first slop.
We hope to welcome your family again in Pocol Dolomites

This Hotel has the full house. Bad smell in foyer followed by unfriendly, unhelpful, disinterested reception staff. The rooms are dark, the heating level stuck on maximum. Some bathrooms have sewerage smell emanating from bath. The water is barely hot enough for a bath. The food is dire. Breakfast is minimalist and first in best dressed as nothing is replaced unless you insist and are prepared to wait. The dinners were appalling - many people gave up on them although they had paid a fortune for them in advance and took themselves off elsewhere.

Dear guest ,thank's very much for your review,as you said the hotel was really full by the time and it's true that we had problems with water, this was something coming from the public aqueduct, but is not an excuse, now we have two more big tanks to overcome this situation that was anyway particular. The heating was on maximum but i don't understand why you didin't turn little down or switch off,the reception staff in particular the congierge and his assistant are now away from this Hotel and we are happy that you told this to us,it was a littele help to send them away.We have improved the service during breakfast time in particular when there are such a big group like yours,in the same week of your stayng other guests where very happy about stayng at Hotel Villa Argentina ,i think that we was a a little unfortunate with you, but this is something that as not to happen.

Hotel position good, hotel room a bit shabby but Ok, hotel receptionist extremely unhelpful, rude and unpleasant. He seemed to think his customers were at best an inconvenience. His method for dealing with any queries or requests for assistance in small matters was to roll his eyes, tell the sustomer off for asking, and then shout (literally) for another member of staff to come and assist. He lets down completely what would otherwise be an Ok hotel.
Also, it's in the mountains, lots of people are there to go walking, why is breakfast not available until 8am? - from the amount of people crowding in the minute they could it was obvious many of the guests wanted earlier breakfast. And it's a cold buffet, it's not exactly difficult to do.
I ate at the hotel restaurant one night, the food was bland and disappointing.

I stay with a group of friends in Hotel Villa Argentina each January and have done so for the past few years.

We always find the Hotel, staff and facilities excellent.

The Hotel wins if you want an out of town, piste side location, ski in ski out with stunning views from the dining room.

It is also an excellent launching pad for many of the other ski fields to the west, notably the Cinque Torri, the so called 'hidden valley' at Paso Falzerego as well as the steep slopes of Arabba, the Sella Rhonda's entry point at Corvara, the lofty heights of the Marolada and the sunny skiing at the lake side village of Aleghe. All are within 15 to 75 minutes drive from the Argentina's car park without having to deal with the traffic and one way system in Cortina.

The only thing to consider is whether the relative isolation of the hotel is a feature or and hindrance, from a skiing point of view it represents no problem, as you need a car to get the most from a Dolomite trip anyway.

The Argentina has a nice little bar and the Hotel's dining room and wine list are better than adequate most nights. The Barolos are particularly recommended.

Dear Stephen, thank's very much for finding the time to dedicate us such anice review.
We are happy that you appreciate the facilities of the Hotel and our staff.
The most important thing for us is that you love the position of Hotel Argentina, for us is a point of stenght to be 5 km away from the traffic of Cortina and to be just 20 meters from the ski slopes,we are proud to say that we are the only Hotel of Cortina area good for ski in ski out lovers.Thank's again for the nice words for our Restaurant, next time you will be here we will have more Barolo's in the wine list
