“Always a wonderful place after decades”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

I returned in this hotel where I spent many christmas vacation when was a boy with my family, and that was in the sixties and seventies. The atmosphere is still the same, familiar but with great cure for everything. The rooms are delicious, the food great and Menardi family made us feel like time was not passed. My wife and me travelled with Antonio,8 months old baby. After few minutes ,he has become friend of everybody in the hotel and all the personal was full of attention for him. Finally, the location is perfect: easy to walk downtown but also to make fantastic trails without driving.
Great place for everybody, expecially for people travelling with babies.

Hotel Menardi was a terrific respite after each day of strenuous hiking in the Dolomites. Treated like family by the Menardi family with great suggestions for meals, trails, and activities. Already planning next Year's return trip to Northern Italy with a stay at Hotel Menardi.

Hotel Menardi was our base in Cortina and for visiting the Dolomites. The hotel was nice-comfortable. The bathroom lacked a real shower, just a tub with a spray nozzle which was not ideal. It was somewhat cold in the evening while we were there and there was no way to turn on the heat in your room. When we called down to request the heat be turned on they said it would go on at 10. Needless to say it was pretty cold. Our room faced to road, which had significant traffic and light noise. Unfortunately there were no blinds to close. During one evening there was an event downstairs with significant noise, which did not quiet down till after midnight. The WIFI is free but limited to 1 device- so if you have 2 iPhones, and a laptop, you were constantly turning it off and on for each device. The sauna we asked directions to twice but no one ever clearly directed us, and wandering around we never found it. Breakfast was good and included in the price. There is a nice backyard and a walking path to the downtown of Cortina, where you can get meals. Parking was very easy and no extra charge.

Room Tip: Request a room of the backside of the hotel, away from the street.

The Menardi was our "base of operations" for a week-long ski vacation. There were three couples in our group who all enjoyed the warm hospitality and service from the staff of this generations-held family hotel. Even before we arrived, Antonio Menardi helped us with elite ski rentals and also arranged for our return-trip bus from Venice where we stayed for two decompression days before heading to the slopes. The morning always began with an over-the-top breakfast buffet with many ala carte additions which we rarely felt necessary. Apres ski is a delight - especially in the fireplace bar where Edelia tends the fire and the bar with equal dexterity....and this girl makes a first-class old fashioned gin martini. An extensive, fairly-priced wine list also met our pre-dinner needs and we often finished a bottle or two over dinner. This brings us to the real highlight of this charming hotel. We opted for the daily meal plan and were overwhelmed by the meal options each evening. From native specialities such as asparagus in crepes and delightful raviolis to veal shanks and filet mignon with bearnaise, nothing was spared in the evening presentations. To top it off, we were served by the delightful Flora who treats everyone like a long-lost cousin. This was our second trip to Cortina after many previous ski holidays in seven countries, and for value and just sheer enjoyment this three-star jewel is an absolute find!

Room Tip: All the rooms are recently rennovated and well-equipped. However, if you must have absolute quiet in...

We stayed in February,a great all around experience it was the first time we stay in the charming Cortina d'Ampezzo, but it won't be the last one. Next time we'll go to Cortina we will repeat same hotel because everything was perfect in there: very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, perfect location close to the center, good food, fantastic views over the mountains, confortable room. Very good quality-price.

This is a charming, friendly family-owned and run hotel. We stayed for a week with a group ski tour. Hotel Menardi has all the amenities and efficiencies of your larger hotels but has the personal touch of staying with family. The hotel is well-appointed; the rooms comfortable and very pretty with a view of the surrounding Alps no matter which way your room faces. All the staff are friendly, courteous and very helpful. Part of our package included breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The food was fantastic and they have a pastry chef who made creations to die for!! We had the same waitress for the week and she made our trip so special, remembering our likes and preferences and bringing us extra treats from the dessert table. The location was very convenient to "downtown" Cortini and to buses to take you skiing or snowshoeing. Some of the buses stopped right in front of the hotel. It was a lovely experience.

Menardi is your traditional chalet style hotel. Very welcoming at reception, rooms are warm,
comfortable and clean and despite our room being at the front overlooking the breathtaking
ski slopes and alps, above the road, we did not hear any traffic noise and our 3 night stay was
very blissful. Good snow coverage and convenient parking off the street was a bonus. The restaurant and staff were exceptional, must mention Maria here, her service in the dining room was
outstanding. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. The only negative was having to carry our luggage
from the carpark up exterior stairs, then up two flights of internal stairs. Despite that,
we'd definately return.
