“Perfect place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

Stayed here 16-18 August prior to taking a cruise with our 2 children. It was clean, comfortable, friendly and in a perfect position for the beach, promenade, restaurants, shops. We were surprised to see that our room had cooking facilities and a washing machine- Rm 207... The staff were lovely, and were so helpful. Veronica and Gianni, at front of house were fantastic, even helping us book a meal in a restaurant in Rome for the following week-( our Italian was poor, and their English was perfect). A big thank you to them both
.We would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 207.....2 adjoining rooms with cooking facilitties and washing machine

We were flying into Rome ( FCO airport) a day before our scheduled Aug. 7 western med. cruise on the Norwegian Epic. I checked out Trip Advisor looking for a hotel close to the cruise port. The Hotel Traiano had received many great reviews, so we decided on it .We booked their hotel shuttle to pick us up at the airport for 140 Euros for the 4 of us.. The driver was waiting for us at the scheduled spot. He was very friendly and talkative as we took the approx. 45 minute trip back to the hotel.
We had a family suite with 2 rooms. A queen bed in one and two singles in the other .There was a kitchenette with a two burner hot plate, a mini-fridge, utensils as well as a small washer/dryer. .There was no dishwasher. The suite was very clean and spacious. It was simply but tastefully decorated, the A/C worked fine. The shower had great water pressure. Interestingly, there were no facecloths or Kleenex provided., or a coffeemaker .There was complimentary internet provided .The in room safe can only hold an I-pad if it was put in at an angle. The Hotel provides a complimentary breakfast... scrambled eggs, pastrys, sliced deli meats, cheese, breads, fruit, yogurt. There was a coffee and juice machine. It was a delicious spread.
Alexandro at the front desk was very helpful with any questions we asked of him. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the cruise port. They will also provide a shuttle from the port to the airport after your cruise.
The hotel is in a quiet residential area. It is only a short walk to the main street that leads to the port. It is about a half hour walk to the port past shops and restaurants, and the street turns into a pedestrian only stretch as you get closer to the port .I should add that the hotel only serves breakfast, but there are no shortage of eating places nearby.
All in all, I would highly recommend the Hotel Traiano as a great before or after cruise hotel.
I will post a review of our Norwegian Epic cruise and our post cruise hotel stay at the Tiber Hotel later.

We checked in after our trans Atlantic flight and were delighted that our room was available. The room was decent size and clean. Breakfast was very complete and quite good. We had dinner at their sister hotel by the beach (transportation was provided). We had a seafood platter that was spectacular! Everything very, very fresh. A big plus was the transportation to the cruise terminal. The staff were very helpful. It is just what we needed for one night.

I was greeted as though they were waiting for me to come through the door. They do NOT provide transportation from the train station but it did not take much time or money to get there. As many hotels in Italy, the elevators are very small and claustrophobia could possibly set in. I had to take the stairs to the third floor. The residential area that the hotel was in did not provide many places to eat lunch. They did provide a place to enjoy a wonderful dinner. They provided a free shuttle to take you upon your making reservation with this hotel. The ride to dinner was hysterical. The driver must have been excited and slung us from side to side which in turn made us laugh so hard that tears were involved. They waited for us to finish and took us safely back to the hotel with a smooth uneventful ride. The bed was comfortable and I quite enjoyed the view from the hotel balcony. A separate living room area was a great place to play cards until my roommate and I were sleepy. A complementary shuttle to the ship was offered. Short ride also and quite on time. The breakfast before we left was wonderful. They made some of the best eggs I have ever tasted. The pastries were divine. The blood orange juice was sweet and excellent from being freshly squeezed. The coffee was one star better than perfect. They also had a computer room that made it possible to check my emails before my 10 day absence. There was also a place to charge my Kindle. Large last minute bathroom downstairs that was handicap worthy (not that I needed it) that was very considerate. We came back to this hotel after the cruise. We waited a LONG time for the shuttle to pick us up....Maybe 2 hours. We spent another night at the Traiano and woke up to another nice breakfast. I was prepared to take another cab ride to the train station for the miserable trek back to the airport but the hotel owner offered up the valuable information about an inexpensive shuttle back to the airport. I was so appreciative for all of his heads-up reservation opportunities. It worked out perfectly. I loved this place.

Room Tip: Third floor was quieter.

This was a great option pre cruise. The room was pretty big for four of us. I forgot the proper directions so it took us a while to get there from the train station. However, it should not be more than 20 min walk. The shuttle bus worked out great. You have to reserve your spot / time for the shuttle. The only complaint I have is that the AC did not cool properly. I would recommend this hotel.

An adequate stop over pre cruise. On the positive side the staff were very helpful and there is a free shuttle to the port. Rooms clean but basic. Tv did not work and air con poor. Rooms were very hot. Location is ok and within reach of an excellent local restaurant - dal Grigio di corti mauro. It is a steep walk back from the beach. Make sure that if you get a taxi insist the driver puts the meter on - it should cost no more than 8 euro. The hotel has no pool but there is an excellent lido on the beach. We were charged 5 euro to swim and it is a very large pool, not overcrowded and very clean. It is mandatory to wear a swimming cap. I am sure there are better and worse hotels for the price. This is ok for a nights stop over - price includes breakfast.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms have no chairs to sit out.

Dear Guest, first of all thank you for choosing Hotel Traiano before your cruise and we are happy to know that he appreciated our staff and overall our hospitality.
Sorry, still have known that you had problems with the use of the TV and that the air conditioning system has not satisfied. As for the tv, we checked behind your complaint that was fully functional and that the problem was in trouble when using the remote to access the channels Satel: The tv's in the rooms can receive more than 800 channels seeker free and many others payment via the Sky platform but it is not the first time that our guests have difficulty following the instruction manual included in the room; however, we will provide one more clear and simple. As for the air conditioning that night our system actually had a problem that it worked for two hours with only one engine . We solved in only two hours thanks to the 'maintenance man, so fast that no customer had noticed . Thank you for having expressed your opinion because it just so we know where to improve and make our hotel more welcoming and efficient
