The reasons I am giving this restaurant 2 out of 5, and not 1 out of 5 is that my fiancee was fairly pleased with her courses, and that the hotel manager offered a free lunch as a compensation after we complained.
Why did I complain? Well, this restaurant was included in a pre-cruise package I bought online from Hotel San Giorgio. I had quite high expectations after seeing the menu in front online. When we got to the restaurant, the menu was totally different. And if that was not enough, we had 3 different menus presented to us before the restaurant staff made up their mind about which menu that was the right one. This I could laugh about later IF the food was good. Unfortunately this was not the case.
My fiancee was quite pleased with her food. Curry and shrimp risotto for first course and chicken bits with sauteed spinach for second course. For dessert she had a cheese cake that was frozen and she described it as awful.
My food on the other hand was bad through the whole meal. I had pasta with bacon and tomato sauce for first course. First of all the pasta was not fresh, and the sauce tasted like a pre made Barilla sauce. Very average. For second course I had pork schnitzel. Please have a look at the photo I took, and ask yourself if this looks like a plate on a good restaurant.. It was dry, and had no taste. I suspect that it was prepared by frozen meat. McDonalds makes better french fries than those I got on my plate. For dessert I had a dish that is very easy to make: Panna cotta. You can not go wrong with panna cotta - I thought. This one was served with a strawberry sauce that for sure was a semifinished product. Enough said.
The service was slow, but friendly..
To the defend of this restaurant we was offered free lunch as compensation for this average to poor meal. Unfortunately we did not got time for it, since we was going on our cruise the next day.
