“A Delightful Tuscan Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

We stayed at the Villa Il Patriarca earlier this month and the stay exceeded all of our expectations. When we arrived we did a brief tour of the hotel and the hotel grounds and the place is even more lovely in person. We were traveling with friends and everyone raved about their hotel rooms and found them to be very comfortable. We were also pleased with the service. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were all comfortable. They arranged for our rental cars to be dropped off at the hotel and helped us organize some daily excursions to nearby Tuscan cities and also suggested some very good wineries. The food at the hotel was excellent. We had several meals here and they were all delicious. The hotel is also located very close to a supermarket and a pub (within walking distance to both) which we thought was very convenient. The pool is gorgeous with sweeping views of the Tuscan countryside and was very refreshing as we experienced a heat wave during our stay. The part that we loved the most about the villa was that it felt more like a home than a hotel. It is cozy and intimate but has all the amenities you would expect of 4 star hotel. We hope to return again soon!

This hotel was every bit as beautiful as it looked on the website. We stayed there for my niece's wedding which took place at another hotel nearby. The setting was spectacular, the rooms beautifully decorated and the pool area in particular was ideal, quiet and with the best views. The staff were friendly and the breakfast provided a good selection. However, we had lunch there on the first day and found it very expensive and rather poor; that was in the Taverna; we didn't even consider eating in the restaurant as it was outrageously expensive. The other thing we didn't like is that it didn't provide tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms (usually an essential for Irish and English people!).
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for an overnight or two night stay. We ate dinner in a nearby restaurant on our last night, it was across the road from the nearby shopping centre and was great value.

The hotel was nice enough - rooms were clean, looked good on the outside, shower was amazing but three aspects were disappointing.

First, we arrived on a Sunday evening after a 5 hour drive. The entrance looked great with red carpet rolled out and candles lit along the edge. A wedding reception was getting started. After dinner, we returned to our room and were less than thrilled to see the wedding reception was being held outside (almost right outside our window). A band was playing Elvis songs (they were actually quite good). We considered crashing the wedding and having some fun. But were too tired after a long drive - the music continued outside for quite a while - ending after 11 pm (not too late, but wasn't expecting to be kept up by a wedding on a Sunday).

Second, the food in the hotel's restaurant was just ok but was very expensive. Somehow, I expected better.

Third, on the final day of our stay it was quite warm outside and after returning from driving through the countryside thought I would go out to the pool. Wandered outside and found the pool through the gardens, started to go down the steps and stopped - the pool was empty - no water at all and no lounge chairs either! The view from the pool was great. Disappointed that in late May when it was about 80F / 25C they hadn't opened the pool yet!

The location was convenient to the main highway and the smaller roads to go to Montepulciano, Montalcino, etc. Stunning views. Plus, there was an outlet mall only 20 minutes away :-)

Caution - many restaurants in the area are closed on Mondays!!

It is sad to read that during your stay there was some unpleasant situations
we had not the the possibility to explain our justifications in that occasion because we did know about your dissatisfaction .we try to explain now

For the marriage usually we inform our guests if the music is
prolonged after the 11pm,but perhaps we should review our politics and for this we say sorry

For the red carpet ever we would have thought that it could represent a problem but if for you it was we say sorry also for this

For the pool the problem was the weather
unfortunately the month of May ,that usually is a sunny month in Italy ,rained almost all days

Before that we open the pool we have to guarantee safety ,the water needs of specific treatments that unfortunately we did not succeed for the bad weather
obviously if the day before rained and the day after there are 25° A miracle could guarantee opening the outside pool, normally we need two days

We hope that our reply is been useful we are available for other explanations

Best Regards

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2009

My wife and I stayed five nights at the Villa ll Patriarca in late September, 2009. It was a nice hotel to stay at however we had two situations that disappointed us. First, the front desk staffer when we arrived was very unfriendly and arrogant as we tried to obtain information from her regarding room options for the class we had prepaid. Our luggage had been lost by the airline and we were pretty stressed out trying to find it after the second day....no help or cooperation from this one clerk. Second, a wedding took place at the hotel during our stay and the noise from the amplified music and entertainer went on until 12:30am. Due to the small size of the hotel I think we should have been notified of the wedding, and potential for noise, when we made our reservations. I think the staff/management could have done better. (Hotel Re Di Roma in Rome certainly did).

We stayed 4 nights in Il Patriarca. The location of the hotel is good- next to A1 highway, very convenient to for you to get anywhere by car. And it is next to a big supermarket. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It's like going home and seeing friends. The room is clean and roomy. We joined the half day cooking class learing to cook pasta. Unforgetable experience - how often you get taught cooking in a 1 star Michelin resturant!! I will come back if I can next time.

After visiting Rome and Venice, we enjoyed the relaxing and comfortable experience at the Il Patriarca. The staff, room, restaurant, pool, location, and the beautiful outdoor landscape made the highlight of our trip. Excellent!

I just arrived from my Italy vacation with my family, today june 23rd. I want to share my excellent experience during my stay at the hotel Villa Il Patriarca in Sienna. This hotel - villa, is located approximatelly 1 hour from Sienna. That is an excellent place to unwind, to relax and clear your mind from any kind of stress.... You will fall in love with that villa. All the rooms are beautifullllllll!!!! the first few nights we stayed at the Tuscana's room.. it was huge, clean, new, but with the tuscan style. Then, I found out that they have those amazing rooms.. like a "Queen", "princess" room.. so I asked to change it, just to experience that feeling! The swimming pool overlooks the tuscan vegetation... what an amazing place to relax!
The breakfast is delicious! the garden is so beautiful! there is a taverna restaurant.... And the staff is amazing! they do anything to anything to please you... I already miss them! I highly reccomend anyone who are willing to go away from the city and enjoy the tuscan lifestyle!
It is also good for a honeymoon... Very romantic!
Eliane

... more   less
