“The Massey Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

We recently had our Wedding ceremony at the Villa Patriarca. We could not be more happy that we picked the Villa Patriarca for our wedding venue and can only say wonderful things about the Villa and the Staff. All of the staff went over and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect during our stay at the Villa, as well as, the Wedding Day. I highly recommend The Villa Patriarca for an amazing place to stay as well as to host any Wedding ceremonies, large or small. The venue was perfect, the decorations beautiful, the food was delicious, and most importantly the Staff was so kind and accommodating to ensure that everything was perfect. We are both so grateful for the hard work and kindness that all of the staff put in towards making our wedding unforgettable.

Room Tip: Every room at the Villa is luxury and uniquely beautiful and I highly recommend any of the rooms

We stayed here 3 nights for a wedding. The suites are all beautiful and the staff is wonderful! Great place to stay for any occasion. The food was delicious too. Beautiful view from the pool of Tuscany.

Room Tip: We had a beautiful suite on the very end, it was beautiful!

We just stayed for the 2nd time at Il Patriarca and it is a very nice luxury hotel. The public spaces are beautiful and the rooms are well appointed. In the back courtyard outside the hotel is the quintessential view of rolling Tuscan hills. The property is very convenient for car travelers as it has plenty of free parking and is right off the A1.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

I recently (April 2014) got married at Il Patriarca and I strongly recommend the hotel and its two restaurants. I was quite skeptical of the outcome--there were so many details, people, and decisions all while thousands of miles away and never having visited the hotel or met the staff. My fears amounted to nothing because of Gianluigi and his staff; they went above and beyond phenomenal.

When we first got to the hotel, we received the suite, which is a beautiful hotel room with three windows stretching from floor to (almost) ceiling, two large closets, flat screen TV, and surround sound (just to name a few). Gianluigi asked which of the family members should receive the junior suite, an extremely thoughtful gesture, and also placed our guests all in the same hallway.

Throughout the five days, the staff was accommodating, friendly and some even treated us as their own family members. One of our guests had to leave extremely early to go to Rome, and one of the front desk staff saw him leaving. She insisted on getting him coffee even though the kitchen was not open yet for breakfast. This is just one of the numerous instances where Il Patriarca's staff went out of their way for our group...we couldn't have been treated nicer.

As for a bride looking for a wedding location, I do not think I could have picked a more beautiful location for my wedding. The rolling Tuscan hills in the back of the Villa provide an amazing backdrop to your wedding photos. Gianluigi did not look over a single detail: our flower arrangements of orchids were beautiful, my dress was pressed the morning of, the gardens were perfectly manicured, the gazebo was decorated with hanging hearts and roses, and the officiant was professional and well-prepared. Our reception table was nothing short of breath-taking. The Michelin Star restaurant--I Salotti--was fabulous; the guests truly enjoyed every course. It seems a daunting task to plan a wedding in Italy while you live in America or a different country; however, Il Patriarca made it so easy and I highly recommend the Villa.

In addition to how fabulous Il Patriarca is, it is also located across the street from a bowling alley, movie theater, recreation game room, and bar. A quarter mile away, there is a super market and mall with numerous stores varying from clothes to technology. We loved going to the bowling alley at night or hanging out and playing pool in the arcade. This made Il Patriarca a great place for our grandparents who wanted the slow, quite life of southern Tuscany, and it gave the younger crowd lots to do at night.

To conclude this extremely long winded review--Il Patriarca is for EVERYONE--and it was by far the highlight of our Italy trip.

We were a family of three staying here for 3 nights. this place was simply phenomenal in offering the best of tuscan hospitality - food, service, quality of premises , etc. the gorgeous infinity pool is not to be missed. highly recommended. chiusi is a decent base to explore the tuscan hill towns and this hotel perfectly fit the bill. there is also a decent mall next door for taking care of any last minute shopping needs.

Based on other TripAdvisor reviews, my husband and I booked a room for 3 nights. Gianluigi Giglioni, at Reception, was so warm and welcoming from the day I booked the reservation, that I just knew it would be a wonderful stay. But it was beyond any expectations. The hotel is so beautiful--truly like staying at a private villa. The rooms are luxurious and ultra-comfortable; location--ideal for visiting dozens of locales in southern Tuscany (Pienza, Montalpulciano, Montelcino, Siena...). The staff is warm, welcoming and ever-so-helpful. We highly recommend this hotel! We plan to return and stay a week--as often as we can get back to Tuscany.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Federico Fellini suite! It was gorgeous, and such a kick to be there--but we looked...

I had such high hopes for this hotel that I booked for 3 nights but ended up only staying 1. It is indeed a fabulous building, but right off the main road opposite a bowling alley and there is road noise. We booked the best suite in the house and yes it was beautiful with stunning views but the hotel felt simply soulless. We walked down to the swimming pool which was in lovely grounds (not great if you can't manage steps) but filthy dirty and with a hot tub that doesn't work. The sides of the pool are crumbling and therefore the floor of the pool is covered in gravel. The reception staff are lovely and very knowledgeable but not overly friendly to children. Breakfast was grim to say the least and allowing dogs into the restaurant I found a little off putting.

Dear Ms Alison

We come to know with much regret your unpleasant experience at Villa Patriarca. Of this we are very sorry but at the same time surprised and shocked by the words used and concerning the descriptions, completely non correspond to what each dear guest can find in our hotel.
For this reason, we inform you that we have taken steps to submit your comment at trip advisor managers as it contains descriptions that do not represent in any way the state of our villa and the quality of services offered.

Apart from the fancy tale of a hotel without a soul, honestly only makes us smile, we come to the inaccuracies that you have reported:

• The infinity pool on the beautiful valley is not dirty and is in a constant state of cleanliness and sanitation, our Jacuzzi is fully functional and used every days by our customers. (Everybody can see hundred pictures of the pool and Jacuzzi recently posted: this is it!)
• The pool is in an excellent state of preservation and maintenance, and the sides aren’t crumbling, but has been made by a high-quality natural travertine stones coming from the quarries in the Val d'Orcia (UNESCO world heritage)
• You didn’t book the best room in the hotel, but at your arrive we were glad to pay an homage to you with a free upgrade in the private Suite residence of Federico Fellini.
• The front desk staff is always lovely with the hundreds of children staying here. They and their parents are always happy in the pool, in the park, in the villa, with the receptionist and the whole staff.
• Breakfast is not sad, but plentiful and sophisticated and satisfy every request of our guests
• Turning now to the dogs! That’s the part of your speech that hurts us more. We take really care of our kind guests and for those who make the holiday with their little friends Villa Patriarca is always pet friendly! and we rejoice, because we love pets and all nature.
Finally, we remember you we didn’t apply any penalty fee at your bill, despite your premature departure.

Anyway we will try to treasure even from your considerations and we hope to have you as our kind guest again in order to make you appreciate the wonders of a family holiday at Villa Patriarca

Sincerely
our Best Regards

... more   less
