It was late at night, and we had to find accommodation before it got dark, so popped into Albergo dell Orto in Chiavari as we were driving through the town. Within minutes we knew we picked the right place - a real Italian experience in the middle of the town square next to an old cathedral. The rooms were very clean, the beds wonderfully comfortable and Francesco&others who appeared to be his family very caring. They advised us that we easily could take the train from Chiavari to explore Cinque Terre, printed out itineraries and ensured that parking of our car did not attract a fine whilst we were exploring the coast. The hotel is in the centre of town, so it is easy to explore the beautiful old streets, cafes and shops, and the railway station is conveniently located just across the square. We decided to stay a day longer, as it really was a good base to explore the region.
