“We felt like honored guests”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was at Villa Velia. I miss it already! My boyfriend and I visited for two nights at the beginning of August, and from the moment we pulled up in the car and Angelo ran out to greet us, we had a magical stay. The view from the grounds is breathtaking. We stayed in the suite, which was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The suite is decorated with lovely antique furniture, and the bathroom is fully upgraded with a fantastic sink, shower head, etc. It's the best of both worlds: charming B&B flair with contemporary comforts. The internet worked well, too. The next day, while we were out exploring Siena and Montelcino, Angelo and Moira not only cleaned our room but even hung our clothes and separated our dirty clothes for us. They also left delicious cold tea and cookies out for our return. And the breakfast - amazing! The spread was incredible, with homemade cakes, pastries, pizza, prosciutto and melon, tuna sandwiches, yogurt, croissants, treats, coffee, tea, soda....anything we could ever want. We felt like royalty. We each requested a cappuccino on our first morning there, and on the second morning there were two cappuccinos waiting at our seats when we arrived. That's the care and attention that Angelo and Moira give to their guests. When it was time for us to regretfully leave, Moira packed us a picnic full of goodies from breakfast, tucked a flower behind my ear, and they both gave us hugs and waved to us as we drove off. We felt like honored guests staying at the home of dear friends. Angelo and Moira treated us with warmth and class, and we absolutely adore them and their B&B. I look forward to staying at Villa Velia again someday!

Room Tip: The suite was spacious, quiet, and comfortable.

My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary by visiting an old friend of mine living in Zurich, followed an extended week exploring north and central Italy, focusing on a 4 night stay at Villa Velia in southern Tuscany. I was not prepared for how much I would love this part of our journey, thanks in large measure to our wonderful hosts, Moira and Angelo, and the breathtaking beauty of their property. The location couldn't be more perfect: you are surrounded by the heavenly view of their olive trees and picturesque scenery the region is most famous for, yet you are only a couple of miles away from Chianciano Terme for anything you may need from a town (and the luxurious hot water spas of the area). There is a lovely restaurant only a few meters walk as well. In addition, you are also only an hour away from both Florence and Rome by way of the autostrasse close by, or you can take the train from the nearby town of Chiusi to either city if you prefer to avoid the parking hassles. However, do NOT miss the history, shops, food, wine, and overall charm of the region your in by exploring towns like Montepulchiano, Pienza, and Montalchino, all very easy and beautiful drives from the B & B. After a long enriching day, you'll appreciate the modern comforts of the Villa as well as its rustic beauty, such as air conditioning, a modernly equipped and spacious bathroom, and a firm and most comfortable bed. Moira must cook all night! The spread you are served for breakfast will amaze you, with everything your palate may desire, including her fresh baked breads, panini, and other treats unique to this culture. Moira and Angelo are the most gracious, helpful, and accommodating hosts one could ever meet. We were even invited to watch the World Cup in their living room (and served Moira's specialties as well). During our last breakfast, Andrea Bocelli's "Time to Say Goodbye" was playing, and I actually started to cry at the thought of leaving this wonderful place (and couple). In all my travels, that's never happened before... I guess that kind of says it all. Don't miss the B & B Villa Velia if you come to Italy... we'll be back!

We were greeted with a gorgeous setting and the warmest welcome, Angelo and Moira were by far our best hosts in Italy. Hubby and I were on our honeymoon and were upgraded to a bedroom suite which was charming and very comfy. Moira arranged a scrumptious spread for breakfast including her to-die-for apple cake (made without oil or butter!!).
Angelo went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely time and also drove us to and from the nearby town since the buses don't run on Sundays.
It's a great place to call home while exploring the near by towns of Val D'Orcia.

The Villa Vella is a large villa on the main way to Chiianciano Terme and Montepulciano. You are greeted and helped by Angelo who guided us through many questions since it was only our second day driving in Italy again. We were given the suite which could easily have accommodated several people comfortably. The view outside is of an entire valley and a stones throw aWay is an olive oil tasting destination that is quite picturesque as well.
The suite has all the comforts including a large beautifully redone bathroom with very modern fixtures and Tile work. Just lovely.
Moira, Angelo's wife, prepared and incredible breakfast seriously fresh food, preserves, fruit, meat, cheeses, paninis, bruschetta, and fresh pastries enough for at least a half a dozen people. So tasty and tempting and just when we thought it was more than enough, Moira would bring out more.
There kindness even extended to helping us understanding the toll roads and packing some yummy take-away food. Very, very kind people.

Room Tip: This is a very nice, quiet place to stay. My apologies for hitting the "fitness center button&q...

We stayed at this beautiful b & b recently and were warmed by the hospitality of our hosts Angelo and Moira. Angelo was charming and helpful at all times and Moira was a great cook providing us with lots of little treats at breakfast. The villa itself was spotlessly clean and our simply furnished room provided every comfort, including a large ensuite bathroom. There was also a comfortable airy lounge/breakfast room looking out onto a long balcony with superb views of the Valdichiana valley.
The villa is perfectly placed for trips to the nearby Tuscan villages of Montepulciano and Pienza with their ancient buildings and colourful history. It is also close to the station at Chiusi where we caught the train for a day out in Florence - a must for art lovers. We also spent a relaxing morning at the new modern "Piscine Theia" in Chianciano Terme, enjoying ourselves in warm thermal pools with built in massage beds and large jacuzzis. A short walk away restaurant Rabaraba provided us with delicious pizzas and tasty pastas for a very moderate price. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week and felt we had enjoyed Tuscan hospitality at its best.

Chianciano is one of my favourite destination in Tuscany since many years. It's a pleasent Etruscan town near Siena by the Valdichiana valley where you can enjoy the peace of a charming country, good food, fantastic wine (especially from the near and gorgeous town of Montepulciano) and two modern, attractive thermal spas like the "Terme Sensoriali" and "Piscine Theia". The only problem I've always been facing there was the lack of proper accomodations because the town is filled up with old hotels that did too little or nothing to move with the times. I found a solution just recently, when I discovered this little gem, a villa that preserves an elegant 70's vintage look while still offering modern comforts. It offers perfectly clean rooms with stylish furnitures, comfortable beds and a magnificent view on the Tuscany country. The rich and tasty breakfast is served in a bright and airy lounge. But Villa Velia's true secret is the exceptional courtesy, friendliness and helpfulness of its hosts - Angelo and Moira - that will do everything they can to put you at ease. If you want to experience true, sincere Tuscan hospitality then look no further, that's your place.
