Service was absolutely superb! The friendly, attentive staff at L'Andana went out of their way to make us feel welcome and ensure our needs were met. Kiara at the front desk deserves special note, as do Barbara and Miriam at La Villa (the hotel restaurant).

The room was spacious and elegant (we stayed in a superior room), and offered spectacular views of the estate and surrounding area. The nightly turndown service featured a different home made treat every night (e.g., macaroons, chocolates, etc.).

We had a fabulous spa day and would recommend spa services highly to others (particularly enjoyed our ESPA facials and massages, as well as 'The Heat Experience'). Breakfast at La Villa in the mornings was delicious (try the homemade yogurt), and the food at both restaurants was hearty and authentic. The pastry chef at Trattoria Toscana deserves special note as the desserts are not to be missed!

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and already can't wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. It was the first (and worst) stop on a tour of Tuscany.

While the hotel is in a stunning location and is beautifully maintained, the service completely lets this hotel down and for the prices that are being paid one is entitled to expect premium service.

There were so many things wrong with the service at this hotel that I was moved to write a long email of complaint to the them at the end of the holiday. The response was disappointing ("thanks for your comments, we'll bear them in mind", etc.).

Here's a brief list of issues:

- Service at the pool was woefully inadequate
- The terrace restaurant has an amazingly limited amount of options and NEVER changes.
- It was frequently impossible to find anyone to serve us a drink after 10pm at night. On more than one occasion we had to go to reception to get them to try to find a waiter.
- Pool area was poorly maintained - on one occasion a huge parasol blew out of the base and into the pool, narrowly missing children in the pool. Upon complaint at this, there was no follow-up from management.
- Babysitter service did not provide a qualified babysitter, but a student who seemed to know next to nothing about children.

Bearing in mind we were paying 500GBP per night we expected much better service.

If you want a few nights of luxury, book somewhere else.

This hotel was excellent. Within 24 hours of arriving we felt completely relaxed. Everywhere you turned there was another picture postcard view.

We stayed in a junior suite which was a good size. Huge bathroom and comfy bed.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff all of whom spoke several languages. We took a cooking class during our stay which I can highly recommend, Annalise the chef who put up with us was brilliant.

The Espa spa was fantastic for such a small hotel and again the staff were superb.

We ate at The Villa, situated in the hotel, and in the Trattoria Toscana which is 2 minute walk away from the hotel on the same property. Both were good. The sommelier in the Trattoria recommended some amazing local wines and even offered to bring another bottle if we didn't like what he recommended! All the ingredients were sourced locally apart from some of the pasta which is bought from a town near to Naples as it is the best in Italy!!

If you do get bored (unlikely) there are Tennis courts, a driving range, bicycles to hire and some good walks up to the surrounding hills.

Go to L'Andana if you want to forget the world and relax.

P.S The doors work fine if you make sure you shut them properly

Superb location - resftul bliss. Lovely rooms, lovely decor, fantastic service, very good food in Trattoria (though steaks slightly too large for 1). This is the perfect place for a three to four day getaway. One of the best hotels.

We do travel extensively in the world and I must say I have not had such a dissapointing experience in a very long time. What one expects from the reviews is the absolutely best service, incredible and magical experience and what we got was the exact opposite. It started with simply bad service at the famous one Michelin star Trattoria of Monsieur Ducasse- food was excellent; service was simply bad. We got back to our room only to find our door open! It happenned not once, not twice, but three times during two days that we were there - whenever we were returning from an outing or dinner our doors to the room would be open!!! This is despite assurances that "the problem with the door" was fixed. Not one gesture from the management of this fine establishment to ease the situation neither at the Tratorria (maybe Jonathan should work in Paris not in Italy) nor at the hotel. We decided to cut our stay short after two nights and only when we were ready to leave the General Manager came to talk to us. At least he was understanding at the very end and he admitted that the situation has snowballed out of control and he was at the end generous trying to improve this sad experience. What was supposed to be a three night highlight of our vacation turned out to be a total disaster. Andre and Kim, New York
