“Great climb to a great restaurant!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Fried dough...yes, it's delicious! How about some pecorino that is filled with pistachio...then there's the handmade ravioli filled with ricotta and spinach and topped with ragu. Of course, if that's not enough protein, try the tagliata steak and follow it up with the salumi di chocolate....oh yes, like a slice of chocolate cookie dough...yum! The staff could not have been more accommodating, and with our group of (7), we had plenty of requests. A fantastic experience...from beginning to end!

“Felt very welcome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We spent an evening in the La Fortezza in April. We were a group of 6 children and 7 adults. The staff took care of the children at a seperate table and were very nice and open to our menu wishes. They gave us enough time to choose and even had no problems to change a menu to our wishes. The very kind owner showed us his cellar for the wine and local specialities. We also had an history lesson of Castglione. Everybody was happy about the food (lamb a bit dry). The atmosphere is easy going and the location abolutely wonderful. Shurely nice and cool in summer.

All the best! Auguri, gli Svizzeri.

“Nice location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

It’s located in a small street in the middle of the medieval city centre. It was warm enough to sit outside! We tried a fish appetizer (five different seafood snacks) and for the main course we had mixed grilled fish. The appetizer was nice but the main course a little too simple and overpriced. We shared a creamy and nice mascarpone dessert. The service of this restaurant is spontaneous and friendly, but also a bit unprofessional.

“Fantastico!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We had spent a month in Italy and spent our last night at La Fortezza. Having eaten Italian food for a month we were expecting the usual array on the menu. I was delighted to see the range of choice and the chance to sample different starters. The Bistecca with rocket and parmesan was delicious and our 2 12 year olds were delighted wtih their mixed grill and pesto/squid pasta. Mr Big steak eater was very happy with his blue Bistecca Fioretina and the homemade tiramisu rounded off the meal perfectly. Very pleasant surroundings with attentive staff who were happy to chat and provided excellent service - highly recommend as off the usual tourist track.

“A gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

A very pleasant place, with a passionate owner / chef. This was the place for great food experiences. Beautiful antipastas, very good dish of wild boar with a local wine that was a perfect match. The chef was several times at the table and talked about the food, raw materials and the area. Very good interior and especially friendly staff. Definitely one of the best places in Castliglione.
