“Beautiful view, somewhat difficult location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

View from the lake facing rooms as well as from the pool and restaurant is superb. The view from high up over the lake Como is the reason to visit this hotel. Otherwise the hotels is nice, rather basic, but well kept. Rooms are clean, functional and small.

The location and thus the hotel can be recommended only to tourists arriving by car. The street up from the town of Cernobbio is steep and twisting. Presumably there is a short cut for pedestrians, but this means long and very steep climb uphill.

Hotel restaurant is nice, serving well prepared Italian dishes. Very good quality, but not quite gourmet.

Room Tip: Room with a view over the lake is a must. Otherwise no incentive to choose this location.

Nice hotel and a wonderfull vieuw over lake Como. The sevice reception was every day very good. Helpfull and friendly. Breakfast was good. Carparking hotel is on the othersite of the street € 8 for a day. If you don't want to pay that you can park on a public area 300 meters further away

It was a little bit stressful and difficult to find to hotel. Because it was evening and roads are so narrow. You have to know where you go or trustable navigator you need. After all hotel is lovely. Room where we stayed was junior suit and really nice view had. Panoramic lovely picture has from the room. Nice and comfortable bed. Really nice good breakfast.
But internet was so bad. You have no chance to be at the upstairs and have internet. Just on the downstairs. It is boring.
Room was not hot enough. Central heating was not working or we couldn't. Aircon was just for downstairs and heating was too low.

Room Tip: Junior suit was lovely, cosy, large and comfort bed, but before you pick up this hotel if it is wint...

Most who go to the lake como would probably stay near the water but this hotel had fantastic views of everything since it was on top of a hill. Hotel is dated but very clean with a staff that's warm and helpful. They made fantastic restaurant suggestions and had some memorable meals lakeside. Parking was safe and adjacent to the property. Don't forget to go to Villa d'este and have a few cocktails before dinner out in the garden. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: get a room with a balcony facing the lake.

We stayed here for five nights and found the hotel to be very comfortable. The views from the pool and the restaurant and some bedrooms are fantastic. The parking is fine (although you pay) and the rooms whilst not overly spacious are comfortable, clean and adequate. There's plenty of choice for breakfast (the waitress never smiled though) but the dinner menu is very limited - far better to go down to the restaurants in the village if you can manage the very steep steps - we always got a taxi back up. The reception and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. Good location for exploring lake Como with its own ferry stop.

Room Tip: I am sure all the rooms are fine here - it's up to you whether it's worth paying extra for a...

I agree with most of the reviewers here. The hotel is tired & dated & in dire need of an update but the view is exceptional & service is amazing. The staff were very friendly & spoke great English as my Italian is lousy. They were very present and undertook any request quickly. As the hotel was up the hill in Cernobbio the views were breathtaking.

We paid for a suite and on the surface it was a great room - lake view balcony, mezzanine bedroom, plenty of space. Everything you'd expect from a suite. However... The furniture was very dated, the upholstery ripped, curtains wouldn't open/close all the way, blinds on the velux windows broken, one usable plug socket in the whole room, no mirror near a surface that I could use for make up, very uncomfortable bed, paper thin walls, black mould between tiles in the bathroom & the room was not the cleanest it could be. Breakfast was very average & served in a draughty marquee.

This hotel has some very nice views on lake Como. To get to the village, you have to walk down the 'steps' in a park for about fifteen minutes, which is not very nice when it is getting dark or when it is in summer. Rooms are small, especially the bath room, which is very, very small. When you take a shower, you cannot close the shower curtain. Rooms were dirty. Staff was rather helpfull. Hotel is too expensive.
