“Tiramisu for breakfast?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Well located hotel close to the railway station. Its ideally sited for the main tourist areas and you can be on the beach in 5-10 minutes too.
The rooms are comfortable with good lighting and plenty of cupboard space. The bathroom was small and they struggled to fit everything in! That said the shower was powerful and the water hot.
Reception staff are helpful. There is car parking although it is a little difficult to find. The staff helped out by sitting in my car and guiding me into the car park.
Breakfast was as I expected having read previous comments. There was a good choice of cereals and all the usual fare and some unusual ones as well. Tiramisu for breakfast? It would have been better if they suggested a second cup of coffee. We could have requested this but I think they should offer automatically. This is a small gripe and I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Cefalu. For the money it is a great choice.

We ventured further afield in Sicily this year, inspired by Inspectore Montalbano. After 5 nights in Ragusa and four in Siracusa we had to finish our Italian holiday in Cefalu to see our chums. Returning to the Mediterraneo is like going home - clean, comfortable and homely with possibly the best breakfast on the island.
This great value, family run hotel is in a central location, close to the railway station and a short walk into the Old Town or to the beach. When returning to change in the evening, always leave an extra 10 minutes to chat to Angelo or Natale who are waiting to hear about your day, update you on the weather forecast or to advise on an activity, route or restaurant subject to your enquiry. Nothing is too much trouble with train timetables researched and airport transfers arranged without fuss.
The spotlessly clean rooms are quiet and well equipped, lashings of hot water and air-conditioning. The Mediterraneo is a gem!

Had a week long holiday in Sicily and decided on the first two days in Cefalu before 5 days in the city.

As soon as you get off the train there's a sign pointing left, walk in that direction for under a minute and it's on your right. Nice steps down to the entrance with a good main foyer. On arriving we'd booked a twin room but was shown to a double. We highlighted this and it was taken care of straight away, just a few minute wait in the lobby and we were shown to another room that had been made for us. Room had all the necessary facilities, including safe, minibar (stocked with a variety of drinks at a reasonable price if needed). Bathroom was great with some little shelves for toiletries and a good shower.

Maid was excellent and we were so surprised at all the nice things that had been done to the room (shame we only experienced it for one day though). My hoody had been hung up on a hanger in the wardrobe, some napkins had been placed under our bottles, pyjamas folded on top of the pillow of the made bed, and toiletries neatly arranged in the bathroom.

Breakfast was replenished regularly and had a large variety. Cakes, croissants, juices, eggs, fresh fruit, ham/cheese, etc. and tea was brought to our table (though it was a bit weak).

Location was very good as it was just by the train station but also under a 10 minute walk to get to the old town and the main street of shops.

Special thanks to Angelo who was on reception. He sorted our room out for us on arrival with the little mix up and was very apologetic and sorted it very quickly. Each morning he was friendly and greeted us, highlighted all points of interest we enquired about on a map, locked our suitcase away on the last day and even held the door open as we left. A lovely man who was very welcoming.

There is a sign for the hotel on the left when you get off the train and a hundred feet later, there it is. A good value if you don't want pay for a place down in the old town and you don't have to drag your luggage over the cobblestone streets. The view is of a parking lot but it is clean. The Internet is very spotty. The doors are a little thin and whenever someone opened theirs it sounded like they were coming in our room. The staff was very helpful.

Very close to the train station. The room was okay nothing special. After staying in B&B the hotel was very standard. We were a bit disappointed by the rude behavior of the elderly staff at the reception but the others were very helpful and warm. A walking distance of 10min to the old town.

We stayed in this city only one night but i liked it. We chose this hotel for the location . It is small city easy to walk wherever you start from . This hotel is clean and nice with proper breakfast and most important close to train station but still very quite. If you do not need to wake up with see view, I recommend it .
