“Idyllic - Please don't tell anyone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

The setting of this villa is quite idyllic. Beautiful views across the sea with the Aeolian Islands visible in the distance on clear days, as well as towards Cefalu. The swimming pool is gorgeously situated amongst lemon trees, with other citrus fruit and an olive grove. The accomodation is in a series of buildings spread across the hillside on terraces clad with attractive flowers and more citrus trees. They vary from ordinary simple rooms to self catering units. Originally it was a convent and the reference to 1868 is the date when the present family acquired it. It still has a chapel and the owners house with tower is in the rocess of being renovated.
Francesco is a kind welcoming host aided by Domenico, equally solicitous if a little flustered when everyone arrives together for breakfast. Breakfast is very good with generous portions for the greedy.
This would make a fantastic boutique hotel. I hope it doesn't develop that way as the charm would be spoilt. It should be born in mind that the faciities are basic. Meals are provided only on advance notice. There is no air con so sleep quality may be poor in the hight of summer. In the unlikely event of rain indoor sitting facilities would be limited. The drive up to the villa is via a number of perilous hairpins and the track and car park are distinctly rough.
But none of this matters given the enchanting setting and the generous welcome. The cost (certainly in May) is ridiculously good value. If more people go it will encourage the prices to rise.
Keep this gem secret.

We had a real relaxing time. The accommodation is absolutely beautiful. Very friendly welcome by owner Francesco. Large and deep swimming pool including parasols and sunbeds. Great view over the sea. The room was small but clean. Simple breakfast but fine. Slightly annoying were the wasps that arrived immediately after we got our plate.

Be prepared for an authentic Italian steep and curvey road up to the villa (it gets easier after first attempt) :-). We had to pay 6 euro for 6 hours wifi. Best connection was close to the restaurant. A couple of beaches are around and can be reached by car. Best to check with owner where best to go.

For dinner, plenty of restaurants can be found in Cefalu. Do note that parking is challenging.

Villa Palamara is a lovely place near Cefalu, with a fanastic view. Parking in Cefalu is a challenge, so we picked this accommodation instead. Just a view minutes by car from the charming village, with onsite parking and a very large pool. The host is very friendly and with a simply email in English our stay was booked. Our room/apartment had a kitchenette and all the kitchen utensils to make a nice meal. Breakfast is included and wifi is possible (it was 8 euro for 24 hours). If the wifi was free of charge, it would be a perfect stay!

This was the perfect spot for us as we winded down our wonderul trip to Sicily. The property is absolutely beautiful with fruit and olive trees surrounding the buildings and swimming pool. The view is incredible overlooking the sea and islands in the distance. Our room was really a suite with cooking facilities on the upper floor. This would have been great for a couple who planned a lengthy visit. It is located a short distance from Cefalu and away from all of the noise and hustle and bustle. Make sure you have good directions as it's easy to miss the entrance approaching Villa Palamara from the east. Breakfast was quite nice with eggs cooked to order. If you want to be near all of the action and restaurants, this is not the place. However, it's perfect for a quiet getaway.

We had a nice apartment in this delightful converted convent, on a hillside overlooking the beautiful coast. The pool was magnificent, and the setting and atmosphere were really special, with olive groves and fruit trees all around (we particularly enjoyed picking the figs and prickly pears!), even a private chapel. Veronique was full of good advice and stories. The only criticism would be that the mattress was perhaps a little too hard for us. Overall, a fantastic place to stay, and excellent value.

Although it poured with rain three days in a row this accommodation, just outside of Cefalu, was worth a visit. We stayed in a very nice and modern appartment part of a restored castle.
It contained a nice spacious bedroom with a lovely modern living room upstairs with a splendid view of the garden and the coastline. There is an open fireplace (plenty of wood) to make the evenings nice and cosy. You can also prepare your own meals because the living room is equipped with a small kitchenette.
The garden is most beautiful. Pick your own oranges and lemons! Have a swim in the lovely pool and just relax and enjoy the wonderful view.
Our hostess Veronique made our stay worthwhile and gave us valuable tips of places to visit.

Room Tip: The one facing the sea
