“Nice view, but not worth the stars!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

This hotel is ok, it really has a nice view but it wasn't what we expected at all not the least the amount we paid for this hotel! We went during the high season so rates are more expensive but it's just not worth it. They hardly speak English except at the reception desk. Breakfast was good, but all of a sudden they started serving outside!!!! because one guest sais it's do beautiful up there! Well you can imagine what kind of bugs are showing up for breakfast as well. The staff was really rude sometimes, they talk about you and they think you don't understand. We were glad we only had breakfast because we had dinner there one night and it was wasn't great! EUR 4,0 for a 0,33 ml beer, EUR 3,- ice cream for kids (just water-ice). The dancing every saturday night is loud till 4 am but you know its there, because they advertise with it. Going there is ok, but you can't sit down unless you reserve a table for the price of EUR 250,- but you'll get a bottle of prosecco with that!!!! Don't take half board is my suggestion, because within 10/15 minutes you're in the centre and have lot's of choices. there is even a very good pizza restaurant close by the La Caletta apartments (going down the steps) but make a reservation because they are always busy, except if you are going around 17.00/17.30. This hotel is not worth the 4 star rating. I read other comments, and I'm happy for the ones who experienced it as great to us it wasn't!

Room Tip: Loud on saturday night till 4 am, loud dog in house next to the hotel you meet that dog going to the...

We booked this hotel looking for a quite holiday in the sun and that is exactly what we had, we had booked a double room on the first floor with a sea view, but on arrival were upgraded to a suite which was lovely; a short distance from the hotel it had a large balcony overlooking the harbour a large wet room type shower and a sunken jacuzzi.
The beach area in particular is stunning, very clean and well looked after with a small bar, nice toilets and showers.
The staff were all very friendly and efficient, from the girls on reception, to the waiters and the guy at the beach area, right to the lovely lady who cleaned our room and had a chat in English every day!
We certainly plan to return and would probably book full board as the food was so good.
Its about a 20 minute walk to the town of Cefalu, and there is not much for kids, but if you want a quiet relaxing time I would recommend La Calette

Room Tip: A first floor room with sea view or a suite would be best

In fairness to this Hotel the views are great, the pontoon into the water is lovely and the pool area is good, the 2 young ladies on reception also do a great job, very friendly and efficient. For my wife and I that's where it ends, the rooms were what I can only describe as brick built " Butlins or Warners chalets", we had a Junior suite which was two of these chalets with the bed removed and a sofa put in its place, so two front doors, two dated bathrooms etc. The food in the restaurant was over priced and not good quality, I asked for a wine recommendation and was offered the two most expensive Sicilian wines. The pianist who plays in the dining room (who can clearly play) was clapped after every tune, all very 1970's. The whole place screamed renovation required of buildings and of management practices. For 190 a night no where near worth it.

We were on a 7 day walking holiday and decided to stay two extra days in Sicily to get over it!

On the recommendation of friends we booked this hotel through their website and got a 50% May discount.

We arrived about 11:30 expecting to be told the room was not ready but the charming girls at reception checked us in and we were shown to our room (209) which the girl said was her favourite also. It is on the first floor overlooking the pool with a full picture wall looking out over the sea. With a large terrace with sun beds, table and chairs and large parasol we certainly agreed with her. The bed was huge with wonderful linen and the bathroom had a shower over a Jacuzzi bath. What excellent value we thought, even the mini bar was reasonably priced.

We had a snack in the poolside bar and walked around the grounds down to the private beach which was nice but empty as the season has only just started. We walked into town both evenings and had a meal on the way back both times at Al Faro overlooking the sea so did not eat in the resturant.

Breakfast was really good with everything you could wish for including an Orange juice maker and bacon and eggs which after a week of cold breakfasts were really appreciated.

Staff were fantastic and very professional and we look to come back for a longer stay next time.

Room Tip: Get 209 or a room on the first floor if you can.

We stayed at the hotel for a week and were amazed by the efficiency and kindness of the staff. We had booked a standard room but we had been surprisingly upgraded to a room with sea view, which was very clean and comfortable. The little rocky beach, which they call La Caletta, was a dream! The hotel is so quiet, you just need to lay down and relax! We ate at the restaurant and dinner was delicious! Just a perfect holiday ****

We spent two nights in May at this hotel and were very disappointed. Our rooms were at the other end of the resort and had no security. The hotel was totally locked at night except at the end we were at, anyone could walk onto the resort from the harbor area. Our room smelled like sewer water and we complained and they came one day and said they fixed it and it actually smelled worse when we came back at night after dinner we called to complain and they came and poured bleach down the sinks and that didn't help. We had other family members staying in another room and that room didn't smell at all, so we don't know why they rented a room that smelled so bad. They never even offered to move us to another room. We ordered white wine with lunch and the wine tasted terrible. It had cork floating in it and it tasted like it had turned. When we checked out I told the woman at the desk that we were not happy and she acted like she didn't even care. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: For security reasons I would recommend a room by the pool.
