We booked the accomodation here after the reviews on TripAdvisor from previous guests.
A degree of trepidation re booking on that basis was removed as soon as we arrived and saw what a wonderful location we were in. The Borgo is high on a hill and has views all around and is stunningly quiet and peaceful. We were shown to our Casa Dario room by Luigi which was great for our family of five. The apartment had two bedrooms, one of which had two bunks, and we used the sofa bed in the lounge for our third child. Three bathrooms, a smallish kitchen, lounge and dining rounded out the apartment. There was a lovely table and chairs outside the kitchen for dining when desired. Everything was immaculately clean and all furnishings etc were modern and well kept.
The staff at the Borgo were extremely friendly, and helped us out with recommending and booking local dining options. They also organised and staged a wine and olive oil tasting of the products produced at the farmlet which was informative and well run.
Castellina in Chianti is less than five minutes drive from the Borgo and is a lovely little town. The location couldn't have been more perfect, being right in the middle of many great villages, and Siena is only about 20 minutes drive from there. As per an earlier post, make sure you eat plenty of gelato in Castellina...it really was the best we tasted in Italy.
We stayed when the weather was very hot and this made sleeping at nights difficult as there were no fans.
The pool was excellent although it was a small walk from our apartment. Nice and relaxing after visiting the area in the heat.
We had a fantastic week here and would recommend to anyone looking for accomodation in the country, while being close to the town for the gelato fix!
The restaurant at the bottom of the drive was also well worth visiting and we did so a couple of times.
