We stayed 6 nights in Villa Cristina - a small hotel in the lovely town Castellina in Chianti (just 5 minutes walk to the centre with great restaurants)! The hotel has a swimming pool with a great view, nice rooms (without TV and AC - but this was no problem for us), free Wi-Fi, free parking and good breakfast (toast/bread, fruits, juice, jam, cake, croissants, prosciutto, italian salami). The hotel is situated in the countryside halfway between Florence and Siena and is perfect for day trips to Florence/Siena/Pisa/Lucca as well as trips to beautiful towns and vineyards in the area.

We can definitely recommend this place!

A family run hotel in a small cosy town in Tuscany. Rooms with high ceiling, no AC but it wasn't a problem for us since the thick walls keeps the cold. Free parking as well as Wi-Fi and an average Italian breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff.

In case we return to Castellina in Chianti, we know where to stay!

We stayed two nights in Villa Cristina in april 2012 just before Easter when travelling around Tuscany with my husband. We were looking for a more or less budget accomodation in Castellina in Chianti, like under 70EUR/room/night. When we turned up at Villa Cristina after being advised to try there it turned out that it was under renovation. The owners are going to operate the villa again and they are renovating before opening in May.

We actually didn`t mind that they were working on the 1st floor and outside because we just needed a room to sleep at night, otherwise were we on our way the whole day, so we finally got a really nice room for 50EUR per night, the key to the room and the villa. There was no breakfast now obviously because we just turned up unexpectedly on the very first day when they got the villa back, but otherwise ypu will get breakfast as well.

We got the room on the third floor with panoramic view. It is a really spacious room, there is an extra bed so three people can sleep there. Both the room and the bathroom were nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is perfect, because it is a 5 minutes walk from the centre of the little town, quiet, has a garden and a swimming pool, and you can park your car in the private parking lot. There is a Coop supermarket and a very good gelateria nearby.

Laura was really helpful with everything, she booked a teble to us at a osteria which actually served the BEST food we ate during our 7-day-trip in Tuscany, and had very reasonable prices. It is called Re Gallo, and each time we ate there we got a discount, because we were guests from Villa Cristina.

We found the little town of Castellina in Chianti very charming and of perfect size to stay in, was not very touristy but still has restaurants, trattorias, bars, cafés to enjoy. We took day trip from here to discover the Chianti area. Greve in Chianti didn`t really impress me - we wanted originally to stay here, and the other places we visited were much smaller that Castellina. So it was just the perfect place for us to stay in Chianti.

I think that Villa Cristina is really good value for your money, with breakfast the prices are probably around 70eur per night. Lauras hospitality and advice on where to eat really made our stay perfect :-)

It was a pleasure being your first guests, Laura, and we wish you good luck with reopening Villa Cristina! When in Tuscany again we will definately return to you again!! :-)

Room Tip: Choose the room with the panoramic view on the 3rd floor!! :-)

The B&B is good enough for a good nights rest but it all looks a bit rundown. The rooms are big and the bed is comfy but it hasn't an atmosphere. Landlady Cristina is very friendly but firm with her prices. Big surprise is the breakfast. It is fresh with a wide range of selections.
Right across the road is a restaurant not to be missed with the most delicious food in the region. It even has a Michelin star and it shows!

Room Tip: The biggest room wasn't the best, we choose the smaller room. All the rooms have the same price.

Thanks for your comment.
I'd like to inform you that the Villa is being renewed by its owner and from April 2012 the Villa will have a new face and a new administration, with a familiar atmosphere and a fresh breakfast. You could drink our wine and eat our local product.
Will be glad to have you again on our place.
Best regards
Laura
