“Enjoyed Our Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2014

Like other reviewers, we were in Cassino to visit the battlefields which my father-in-law had fought in during WWII. This hotel is a perfect jumping off spot. We had a clean, comfortable room with a large balcony and a great view of the Montecassino Abbey. The hotel has many WWII artifacts in the lobby and the owner is a great resource for the history of the battles in the area. The hotel's location is near town center and within walking distance of downtown shops and restaurants. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the off street parking was an added plus. The breakfast was very basic which is fairly typical for Italy. The WIFI reception in our room was poor but may not be typical of all rooms. We used the lobby where the signal was much stronger when we had to get on-line.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street and Montecassino are great. The traffic noise at night was not a problem as...

We travelled to Cassino for the second time after a visit in May for the 70th Anniversary of the battles for Montecassino. The first time we visited we went to the same hotel as we had such a great positive experience, we decided to visit again, this time taking friends with us. Our room was comfortable at the front of the hotel overlooking the Abbey. All the staff at the hotel are warm and friendly and very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. Also English was spoken. We even had the opportunity to have a guide around the local areas by the owner of the hotel; Pino Valente, who is both knowledgeable and passionate, which was most enjoyable and informative. I would definitely recommend this hotel and a visit to the Abbey Cassino, the Polish War Memorial, the Commonwealth and other surrounding points of interest. Many thanks to Pino Valente, Lena, and all the staff. (Grazie mielle Pino)

We stayed 2 nights and wish we had stayed a bit longer. The hotel itself is nothing flash but good for the price.
We had a fantastic view of the Montecassino monastry and Castle Hill from our balcony. The room was clean and breakfast was adequate. All the staff were very friendly and spoke really good English.
However the thing that made this hotel outstanding for our stay was the manager, Pino. He has a real interest in the battles for Cassino in WW 2 and the effects these had on his town .
He has compiled and laminated some maps showing how to walk to the top of Montecassino on the old roman path and the battlefield areas at the top. He also has videos in English with footage of the bombardment of Cassino.
Pino and his staff were very welcoming and his knowledge and advice made sure we made the most of our time. Thanks,Pino, for making the end of our Italian holiday so memorable. Good luck with your future plans !

We visited Cassino because my husband's Polish father had fought here. Our greeting by the young lady on reception was exceptional. We were given lots of very good advice to enable us to visit the abbey that afternoon with maps, bus times, restaurant recommendations etc. Our comfortable room to the front of the building had a balcony with a view of the Abbey, we were not disturbed by road noise. We found the visit interesting and very moving, the abbey and it's surroundings are very beautiful and far surpassed our expectations. On return that evening the hotel manager shared his interesting and extensive knowledge of the area. This is definitely the place to stay if your reason to visit Cassino is to do with the war. We would like to come back and will certainly stay stay at Hotel La Pace.

Room Tip: For a fabulous view of the Abbey ask for a room at the front of the hotel.

We were travelling from Rome but wanted to stop by Cassino to visit the abbey so we only stayed for one night. We picked this hotel based on it's reasonable price and the previous reviews and we were not disappointed. We arrived in the evening and the guy on reception was really friendly and helpful, and luckily spoke good English as our Italian is less than impressive! The room was good value for money. It had a big, comfy bed, there was a fridge in the room which had two bottles of water in (we would have liked a kettle to have satisfied our English need for a brew!), a tv, big wardrobe and easy to use air con. We had a room somewhere at the back, at an angle, so the view was of a wall and we could also see straight into someone else'e room so we kept the curtains shut, but this wasn't an issue for us. The bathroom was roomy and clean and had a powerful shower with complimentary toiletries. We enjoyed the choice of breakfast in the morning, it set us up for our visit to the abbey and for the car journey we had after this to our next destination. We got in a bit of a muddle trying to ask for milk for the cereal (there was only yoghurt out), our Italian failed us and we'd left our phrasebook in our room but the staff were helpful and pleasant. We checked out with the same person who checked us in and he was again really helpful, giving us advice about the abbey and directions to other sites in the area. No complaints and would stay here again.

My father and I were there, as descendants, of members of the 28th Maori battalion to pay our respects to our New Zealand soldiers who never made it home. We could not have chosen a better place to stay than Hotel La Pace. Fantastic place to stay, Pino and staff treat you like one of the family and were always there to help with information and advice on the history of Cassino and he shows a deep respect to those that fell so far away from home. Would recommend to any person wishing to visit Italy,

It was my second time in Cassino and at Hotel La Pace. The hotel is in central Cassino within few minutes walking distance to the main roads and the bus station to the monastery. I liked the wonderful view from the balcony at the Monastery and Castle Hill and the generous space in the room. The breakfast was comprehensive, with fruits, toast, cakes, muesli and a great cappuccino.
For me, the La Pace is a special place because Pino is a great host and together with his staff was ever concerned to make my trip memorable and pleasant. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the WW2 battles and provides a great service to his guests, like descriptions and maps of itineraries and generously shares his personal experiences of walking the battlefield.
