We had booked, for our first night upon arriving in Italy, at the Hotel dei Cavalieri in Caserta. We were so happy with that experience, that we returned a few days later to stay 3 more nights at this modern, clean, safe haven in the middle of the some-what otherwise fast-paced city of Caserta.
Reception greets you warmly and converses easily in Inglese. We had emailed in advance to ask them to book a reservation for us at our favorite restaurant (Le Quattro Fontane in nearby Casagiove) and the young lady at check-in confirmed she had booked our reservation for that evening. (Turns out her grandmother lives right by the restaurant...how cute!) We were able to drive our car right up to the hotel's front door, to unload our bags. After bringing our luggage upstairs we were easily directed to a nearby secure car park.
Our room (a junior suite) had everything one could ask for...a large, comfortable bed with crisp linens, huge bathroom with large jacuzzi bathtub, Wifi, large closet with many hangers, a safe, a large balcony overlooking the Piazza Luigi Vanvitelli and a view of the backside of the famous palace. The large bathtub has a handheld showerhead, and there is no shower curtain, but it is easy to learn to use the shower and keep the water inside the tub. (However, when we returned a few days later, and in a different junior suite at the Hotel dei Cavalieri, there was no attachment to hold the showerhead in place on the wall, so this made it just a bit tricky to use.) But the water pressure was good and the hotel has plenty of large towels in the bathrooms, with a nice supply of the standard toiletries, as well.
Although the piazza is across the street, our room was completely quiet and peaceful. Bright lights are kept lit, on the balconies all night. However the rooms have black-out curtains that work well to keep out the unwanted security lighting.
Breakfast is served in the dining room just off the lobby and is self-serve, plentiful and tasty. It is restocked quickly & efficiently. Coffee drinks are made fresh-to-order and are delicious.
When we returned a few days later, we were greeted again in the same friendly manner. This time, we stayed two more nights, so we learned that housekeeping is done quickly and thoroughly, also. The friendly housekeeping staff starts early in the morning (and quietly, so as not to disturb those guests who might still be asleep!) ...so, as we left each morning for our walks about town, we would return to a perfectly-made up room. So nice to have the room serviced quickly like this, so we could get right back to our business of relaxing!
Given it's fabulous location, in the heart of Caserta, the friendliness of the staff, the security of our well-being, and the cleanliness of the rooms, we highly recommend the Hotel dei Cavalieri. In Caserta, we couldn't want for anything more!
