Calanova restaurant is right on the beach and offers amazing food in a very relaxed atmosphere, but with impeccable service. Dishes we tried last week included scampi with roasted peppers and green apples, gnocchi with truffle and egg, sardines on melon and courgette, tuna tartare. All were made with the freshest ingredients and tasted sublime. We ate lunch there every day for 3 days and looked forward to every meal. It is a fantastic venue for a romantic evening meal too. You can arrive by boat and call to be collected by the lifeguard on a smaller boat to arrive at the small jetty. The lifeguard, by the way, is the most attentive I've ever seen and keeps the beach (a mixture of stones and sand) pristine. You can rent very comfortable sun beds with shade (spaced nicely so you are not literally on top of the next person) for Euros 25 for two beds per day (includes a small bottle of water), or you can bring your own parasol and lay on the beach. You can arrive by car in both directions I think, though one side is through private resort where we were staying (Tenuta de ripalte) and I'm not sure if those not staying can access from the south. They can (I think) access it from the north and there is a good sized car park there. August will be very busy, but last week was great - enough people for a good atmosphere, but not crowded. It's a good beach for couples or those with young children. There is a craft club for children that kept some of the children occupied. You can hire pedalo boats or bring your own snorkel. Would definitely recommend bringing shoes to wear in the sea. The beach and restaurant were great and it was relaxing watching people come and go on their sail boats and motor boats - large and small.
