Set high in the hills of central Sicily this was a haven from our sometimes frantic touring of Sicily - Palermo etc.

Silvia, Bruno and the 'reception committee' of 2 friendly dogs and many cats are great hosts. They'll also cook you a delicious dinner upon request, using their organic farm produce.

Silvia’s bio farm

After some days city sightseeing and driving around the island of Sicily in May 2009, we took a deep breath and relaxed in Silvia’s farm Azienda Agricola Sillitti. The bio farm, used also as small hotel with 15 sleeping places, is in the middle of green fields and almonds trees. Silvia’s and Bruno’s farm is close to Caltanissetta which is in the middle of the island. It is a perfect place to have a rest after days of driving and city sightseeing. The farm has nice swimming pool especially appreciated by families with children. The cats and the two friendly dogs around are also part of the warm welcome atmosphere. The place is certainly good to escape from the stress of the everyday “normal” life. The friendly owners, their bio products and the tasty healthy breakfast make the stay in Sillitti farm quite pleasant and relaxing. After saying Goodbye to Silvia and Bruno, we thought we could stay longer.

My wife and I stayed here for a few nights as part of a longer trip to Europe during September to October 2008. It was easily the best place we stayed during the whole trip and we really did not want to leave at the end!

Silvia and Bruno are extremely friendly and welcomed us into their home wholeheartedly. Silvia is an amazing cook and they were also able to recommend some great local trattorias (I was desperate to try squid ink pasta).

We were actually able to explore a lot of Sicily from here (we had a car). It's an easy day trip to anywhere on the east coast - we drove to Etna and Siracusa from here and drove back after dinner etc.

We both highly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Sicily. You simply will not find a better place to stay.

When you drive the roads of Sicily contending with overtakers on hairpin bends and potholes imitating Etna's craters, you need somewhere relaxing to unwind and reflect on what a superb country Sicily is to explore. This Agriturismo is the place to unwind, look at the countryside, swim in the pool with a view of the real Etna and look forward to excellent cooking and conversation from Silvia who farms organically the land surrounding her hill top home . It is no great distance to the coast and temples of Agrigento, to the fabulous Roman mosaics at Piazza Armerina and to the inland towns of Caltagirone and Caltanissetta. I just wish that we had spent more time at this airy hilltop heaven and spent a bit more time catering for ourselves in this little apartment after shopping in the wonderful food markets of Sicily.
